hi all. I'm losing around 5% each night on standby... find that it's rather high (previous androids like Oppo only around 2% - 3%).

is it normal for Xiaomi phones? or what can I do to reduce the loss?

I charged to 100% and unplugged before sleep last night.

98% this morning after I accidentally overslept the alarm by more than 5 min ..

Micro curved screen ... Very unlikely to find a good tempered glass protector.

I think glass doesn't seem to play ball well. I got myself an el cheapo online , and the fingerprint sensor sensitivity took a hit, probably 10% of the time will miss :cautious:

On the other side of the pond ..

https://www.wsj.com/tech/personal-tech/iphone-apple-tariffs-china-bb20c7a3

The dream of the Trump tariffs is to bring high-tech manufacturing to the U.S. The reality could be a bajillion-dollar iPhone.

Apple’s big moneymaker is a global patchwork. It has components sourced from all over the world, brought together primarily in China, where electronics manufacturing has been perfected over a generation.

Moving just the assembly process to the U.S.? Not cheap and definitely not easy.
Take a look at this iPhone 16 Pro. Your cost, for the 256GB version, is $1,100. The cost of all the hardware inside—aka the bill of materials—was about $550 to Apple when the phone was introduced, says Wayne Lam, research analyst at TechInsights, which breaks down major products. Throw in assembly and testing and Apple’s cost rises to around $580. Even when you account for Apple’s advertising budget and all the included services—iMessage, iCloud, etc.—there’s still a healthy profit margin.

Now factor in the newly announced tariff for goods from China, which currently totals 54%. The cost rises to around $850. That profit margin would shrink dramatically if Apple didn’t up the price. And you don’t become a trillion-dollar gadget company by charging for things at cost.

An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment on the company’s pricing plans or manufacturing details.
So what about that American-made iPhone? Wouldn’t it at least save on tariffs? Apple would still pay levies on the device’s many imported parts. Plus, a manufacturing move to the U.S. would be “a massive, mammoth undertaking” that would take years, says Barton Crockett, senior research analyst at brokerage firm Rosenblatt Securities.

And the phone itself would likely cost more—a lot more. The assembly ecosystem in China is labor intensive and wouldn’t make economic sense in the U.S., Crockett explains. “It’s not clear you can make a competitively priced smartphone here.”

By Lam’s estimates, the assembly labor that might cost $30 per phone in China could cost $300 in the U.S. And if every single component, from the touchscreen display to the internal storage were built here? Yep, a bajillion dollars. And maybe a magic wand.

This tariff matter is far from settled. Our advice is to hold off on stockpiling last year’s iPhones, and make that one in your hand last as long as it can.

Yeah..must go with gel based or similar. Tempered glass doesn't work well on the 13U and I expect the same applies here. Must have flat screen else likely have air gaps .

Problem is Apple parts sourced out of US will still be more ex for Apple and the overall phone cost will still be higher even if they buy from a non tariff retaliatory country like Sg..

But one thing for sure - if they buy Xiaomi overseas will be cheaper than they buy Xiaomi in US :ROFLMAO:

But will Snapdragons be much more ex for Chinese phone makers ? Current Snapdragon Elites are much more ex than yesteryear 8 gen 1 etc.

Will see a shift to Dimensity over the next few years during his term?

Min wage and factories can't undocumented migrants means insourcing back to USA is a stillborn idea.

All those farms in US highly dependent on non local workers...

Funnily...all my US buddies are on fruit phone...don't think they will be able to get out of the eco system...that said. They won't be impacted by the tariffs since their jobs are recession proof.

I think laptops and pcs and servers will be drastically impacted. Would DCs move to near shore or he's gonna tax internet traffic too? 😁

Elon will get free iphone in exchange for SpaceX or starlink concessions . Haha

Till today am still pissed nvda didn't get arm acquisition approved...

Impossible ..tell them don't get AMs (cuz Brits make crappy cars) even tho it makes them feel like 007....they still get.

As for nvda...lifetime oppty if u can get it low. These events don't come often. Last time was covid. Before that I got MSFT FOR $25. DISCLAIMER: I hold long (e.g. palentir) when I make my own calls..my portfolion manager does the active management.

That one needs China to finally have their working EUV or the next china loving US president lifting the ASML embargo.

Else they are just trying to modify a work around for the older DUV, 5 nm might be the max/min they can go with existing tools.

As a side point it is nice some chinese manufacturers also do up accessory chips apart from Snapdragon processor to differentiate themselves. Poco F7 Ultra has an additional VisionBoost D7 chip that augments 8 Elite and even surpass Xiaomi 15 Ultra in certain metrics.

Why not Exynos? 😅

Anyways..regardless...ARM wins. Hence my disappointment nvda didn't get ARM

Apple moved away from Samsung foundry and went TSMC.

Google Pixel also recently moved away from Samsung foundry and went TSMC.

Samsung S25 Ultra uses Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Not much love for Exynos

Thank you for poking the Sammy fanbois on my behalf 😅

Tsmc wansui! For investors..please also look at beyond asml for supplier upside. Can't post them here. Must look at entire semicon supply chain

Screwed on a Marumi DHG close up filter ( +3 dioptre only but fairly thick and heavy already )

*Achromatic filters correct for chromatic aberration (color fringing) at two wavelengths, while apochromatic lenses provide better correction for three wavelengths, resulting in sharper, more brilliant images.

I am not aware of Apochromatic macro filters but Achromatic filters would already be a huge IQ step up from non corrected cheap macro filters.

Seems to have some useful details.

Unfortunately AF is extremely unreliable at 23mm. Initially thought could have some macro tricks with a 1 inch sensor, looks like not doable in this instance.

Nope. The CSO asked me to try reinsert / charge both kit and phone / make sure firmware update when sufficient power which I already did.

Gonna call them tmr and check.
