I started using HB710 for a week now but it is a lot less stable on my PC in the room than using my old deco x20. There are frequent periods of no connection for a few minutes...
other equipment seems fine and didn't notice it on my phone but I also don't use my phone as much in my room. Any recommendation?
Yes I agree, I have also seen cases of network dropping and not connecting on my pc
The reach of the router is worse than my previous Linksys Velop MX4200.
I have also seen issues with 6Ghz & MLO enabling itself even after disabling it.

Hi Xiaofan,

I think I will go with your suggestion to sell the HB710 and keep the current setup for the time being while waiting to get a value for money Asus Wifi 7 router - like RT-BE92U. Seem to be more cost efficient for me.

Think current carousell can fetch $170 for the HB710.

Thanks for your advice.

I just contacted the SH vendor, they say if you do not install the HB710 that come complimentary with it, they will only do up to the modem setup. You have to wired your own 3rd party router by yourself.

Any guys here using Asus routers with Starhub care to share the procedure how to setup
Thank you bro for sharing

So you signed for ONT?

Is this new connection? Or recontract? Free router?

Can you share sign up link?
Sorry late reply. I am a new broadband user for Starhub. Technically I have an account with Starhub coz super many years ago during my NS days I was on their telco; after that jumped ship.

The promo link previously our senpai Xiaofan got post. You may want to refer to the sticky-ed post in the front.

And yes, for my case, the router promo was at a discounted price. The later promo for the same plan, the router was given FOC. Hope this helps!

Then I must be lucky, I sign up online last Saturday then CS call me this morning, email her the require document (ID copy, address of installation, she call back after lunch to confirm my address, tell her need to re-lay fibre cable cause existing was damage by reno worker, appointment make to do cabling next week and activate fibre plan on last week of April. Receive service agreement via email 5 minutes after call.

I’ve just gotten the 5Gbps installation done. Just wondering whether there will be any market for the old Linksys router on Carousel?

But the old direct 5Gbps ONT offer (S$29.55 per month with ONT+ free HB710) link is gone.
https://www.starhub.com/personal/st...speed-5gbps-ont-at-2955_ultraspeed-5gbps.html

The old direct 5Gbps ONR offer (S$29.55 per month with free Nokia ONR + Nokia Beacon 2) link is gone too.
https://www.starhub.com/personal/st...speed-5gbps-onr-at-2955_ultraspeed-5gbps.html

Now both will show the following 404 error.

Sorry!

We couldn't find the page you were looking for.

Edit: the 3Gbps offer comes with free HB410 so it is much worse than the existing 5Gbps offer.

The two old 5Gbps offer direct links now redirect to 3Gbps offer (indirect link). The picture now shows HB710 but no so sure if they will change to HB410 later.

The following Starhub 5Gbps Offer link (indirect link) is still alive. Let's see how long the offer will still be there.

Yes, S$10 for Linksys EA7500 v2 and EA8100v1. Both are supported by OpenWRT.

Higher value for Linksys MX2001 and MX4200, say S$50.

Linksys MX4200 is also supported by OpenWRT but not so sure about the wireless performance. Probably better to stick with Linksys Fw as it is still supported by Linksys for security updates (EOL but not yet EOS).

Thanks. I suddenly developed severe giddiness after the installation. I’m wondering whether there’s any side effects to the radiation or whatever?

I don't think this is the reason. The radiation from the wireless router is supposed to be less than your mobile phone.

Better seek the advice from the doctor in this case.

Thanks I will see how it goes. I’ve switched them off for a while and I will see if I will get better in time.
Having said I really Iike the new setup with the router in the cabinet with the modem but the tv can still be connected to the ethernet via a cable. Best of both worlds.

@xiaofan sifu, what will be best replacement for AC68U for 5gbps ONT connection ?

AC68U is still strong and sufficient for my need actually, used since 300mbps era until latest was 1gbps and now going for 5gbps, small house with only 3 family members

Why not use the HB710 (very good value as a free bundle with the 5Gbps ONT offer at S$29.55 per month) and also the RT-AC68U at the same time to see which one you like? You just need to use two different sets of SSIDs. For your WiFi 6/6E/7 clients, HB710 may provide faster speed. For you legacy clients, RT-AC68U will provide better compatibility.

I would have suggested you to change RT-AC68U since Asus has EOLed the router. Asus recommends things like TUF-AX4200 or TUF-AX6000 as the replacment. But they only have 2.5G WAN port. If you need to have 10G WAN port, then minimum you need to go for RT-BE92U (single 10G WAN port).

However, Asus is still providing the FW security updates, so you can probably keep using it for a while.

looking for good range (which AC68U is very robust and reliable), speed is not my priority, when I need to download big files normally I use my PC connected by cable

and as you mentioned above, it will be discontinued :(

thank you will take a look at TUF-AX4200 or TUF-AX6000

Yes. Hearsay from her this weekend the 5gbps plan at 29.55 is ending. Will become 3gbps. Those who havent sign up thru her better mtl ... go sign up through Selina at 8116 1630

Edit: looks like 3Gbps offer is much worse since it comes with free HB410.

Let's see how it goes.

If the 3Gbps offer at S$29.55 still comes with HB710, then it is still a very good offer. After all, most of the users will not feel any differences between 3Gbps and 5Gbps plan.

In fact, 3Gbps may make those users who prefer to sell HB710 and use another 2.5Gbps capable router (eg: Asus TUF-AX6000 or the cheaper TP-Link Archer BE230) feel better and save money too.

Starhub 3Gbps offer (indirect link). The picture now shows HB710 and hopefully they will not change that to HB410 (white color) later.
