Hey guys just wanted to share that the starhub 29.55 onr new sign up plan (comes with 1 free Nokia beacon 2) still can be done at a roadshow. Previously went to starhub outlet and they said no more but I happened to be at the tampines roadshow today and they still offer it. The general consensus is the ONT plan is better but I suppose there may be average users who find the ONR option of value?
Which part of tampines is this roadshow at?

power/tech-savvy users prefer ONT setup

average/non tech-savvy users will go for ONR setup

I will say many average users will be fine with ONR setup (eg: Singtel/WC).

However, in this particular case for Starhub 5Gbps plan special offer at S$29.55 per month, even for average users, ONT + HB710 may well be a better option than Nokia ONR + Nokia Beacon 2 mesh solution. There are quite some reports of wireless stability issues of Nokia ONR. That is probably why Starhub ditched the ONR setup.

Hi...does anyone have a good plan to recommend? Feeling the wifi is laggy and kinda slow. WiFi connection at the furthest area of my house is kinda bad (e.g. kitchen toilet, furthest bedroom).

1. Stays at Macpherson, old 4NG HDB.
2. Existing VQ 2Gbps user, paying almost $80 each month. Using the router and modem shown below.
3. Usage is mainly WFH, smart home connections, streaming from CN movie sites, occasional online MMO gaming and torrent downloads
4. Thinking of getting 10Gbps plans to "future-proof".

TIA! :)

WiFi lag has nothing to do with the plan but rather related to the wireless router placement and floor plan. It could be that single router is not good enough and you need a mesh solution.

Are you using single Asus ZenWiFi XT8 or two nodes?

Please post the floor plan, with details of the location of the FTP, LAN ports in the rooms if any, and current placement position of the ZenWiFi XT8 (single node or two nodes).

With the floor plan, we can know the issue of wireless coverage and then corresponding plan to recommend.

Thanks for responding. See my rough mapping of the FTP, LAN and some explanation in the picture below.

I'm a noob when it comes to configuration or networking. At wit's end and thinking whether the ISP engineers will be able to help me.

So you have LAN ports in the Bedroom 2 and Bedroom 3, but no LAN port in Main Bedroom. It seems to me you are using wireless backhaul with your two ZenWiFi XT8. By right you do not need the Orbi router. Just need to repace your Orbi router with the second node of ZenWiFi XT8 (using Ethernet backhaul). I believe that should be good enough for your floor plan.

I tend to think M1 6Gbps plan new user offer at S$46.90 per month (with Asus ZenWiFi BT10 two-pack top-up) will be the best plan for you. You can then put one unit of ZenWiFi BT10 in the living room to replace your ZenWiFi XT8 as the main router. Then the second node can be put in the Bedroom 3 (Ethernet backhaul). You can remove the two ZenWiFi XT8 nodes and the Orbi.

If you like to go with M1 10Gbps plan directly, that is also possible at S$55.90 per month with ZenWiFi BT10 two-pack bundle. I tend to think M1 6Gbps has a much better value than 10Gbps.

Just curious whether the M1 technician will come down, setup for me and troubleshoot like SH offers?

Read the posts in the first page and see which plan you like.

Starhub S$29.55 per month offer for 5Gbps plan is for new users, with free HB710.
M1 S$34.90 per month for 6Gbps is also for new users, with free HB710.
Oh ya Xiaofan, forgot mention, my 5GBPS ONT HB710 at $29.55 is recontract one hehe... But i hearsay got limited period promo that new users can get that price, not sure if still have.... Maybe no more alrdy

Not really, this is meant for new user. It is technically a new sign-up even though Starhub may make it easy for you and it may look like a recontract.

The real recontract offer is at S$30.37 per month.

You may want to check out the Starhub 5Gbps thread for more details as well.

The following Starhub 5Gbps Offer link (indirect link) is still alive.

https://www.starhub.com/personal/forms/hubbing/exclusive-5g-promo.html

But the old direct 5Gbps ONT offer (S$29.55 per month with ONT+ free HB710) link is gone.

The old direct 5Gbps ONR offer (S$29.55 per month with free Nokia ONR + Nokia Beacon 2) link is gone too.
https://www.starhub.com/personal/st...speed-5gbps-onr-at-2955_ultraspeed-5gbps.html

Now both will show the following 404 error.

Sorry!

I signed up for this last night and SH was quite responsive, calling me the whole afternoon (I was not able to pick up as I was on back to back calls/meetings) until 5+. Booking the first appointment (fibre port turn on) next week and installation the week after.

Contract with Whizcomm ending in May, so I decide to take this first.
I know it comes with one HB710, and my rooms are not wired. So I am deciding if I should get one from SH / $190 or buy outside.

MR has 10gbps plans. Wish I saw it earlier, as I bought the Asus GT-BE98 router separately for my 3gbps plan but saw their 10gbps plan has an addon for the same router, and rough calculation it seems to be cheaper overall with that plan as compared to my 3gbps+self purchase of the router...

The two old 5Gbps offer direct links now redirect to 3Gbps offer (indirect link). This is a worse offer as it comes with HB410 and not HB710.

Yes, it's been available on the 10Gbps Gamer plans.

Looking at M1 website now, they seemed to price down a few plans, making the price firm. They having anniversary sale,

3gbps for $32.90.

They price it strategically 6gbps for $34.90 so people sign 6gbps instead. Of cos if you are a re-contracting customer, you can get it at $32.90/mth

Hey all, not sure if this has been answered. Im currently looking to recontract and thinking to choose either shub 5gb ont $29 with HB710 or m1 6gb $35, so looking for any advice on which would be better. I'm not a power user, currently on a 3x Decox20 set up with singtel default router ONT 1gb plan. If m1 is suggested can also pls advise if i should go with the ASUS RT-BE92U or TP-Link Archer BE805

Cost is not an issue here, price difference within tolerance for me, just looking to see which one best value esp since theres 3 diff routers to choose from. thanks in advance!

Hi all need some advice on which broadband plan to take.

Currently using singtel 2Gb since covid 2021. Am using Deco XE75 Pro (3) as wifi mesh at home and wifi 6. Typical 3BR < 1000Sqft. I know its abit overkilll. Typical gaming, show streaming app, smarthome app with switches and screen usuage, few CCTVs. The position of my workstation doesnt faciliate connection via LAN cable but the signal from Wifi 6 is strong for all devices.

As i am overpaying for the plan for now at 70-80$, am wodering whats a good plan to get now? with or without contract is fine. Priority is to lower monthly payment.

Concern now is;
majority of the the cheapest sign up now comes with 1 Wifi7 router, and my current mesh routers does not support wifi 7. so what do i do with the router? If i want to switch to wifi 7, i might need to get a plan with 2 wifi 7 mesh, or 1 router + pack of 1 or 2 off the shelf mesh system.

Does it make sense to get 10GBS if most of my place is wireless, i do have the option of date point in all my rooms but im trying to minimise wiriings from data cables. As i understand that you cant really make full use to 10GBS if not connected via LAN cables.
Wondering if there is more "value" getting 10GBS vs 3GBS as the monthly free only differs from 10-15$.

Thanks!
