Would like to check with experts here. Unifi routers do not have link aggregation for the LAN ports? Or I'd need a switch to have this feature?

Yes, that is the case with some exceptions.
https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007279753-Port-Aggregation-FAQs

What devices support port aggregation?
All UniFi Switches support aggregation, except USW-Flex, USW-Flex-Mini and USW-Ultra.

Port aggregation is not supported on most UniFi Gateways; it is only supported on the EFG and UXG Enterprise. Because of this, you should not aggregate two ports connected from a UniFi Switch to an unsupported UniFi Gateway.

Indeed this is another way of using SingTel ONR as the main router and not using Unifi Gateways at all, just Unifi APs.

I don't think this is what he wants though. He want to use UCG-Fiber as a transparent firewall plus managed switch, I may be wrong but I don't think it is possible.

Hi @xiaofan do you set your pfsense to DHCP or static for WAN when connecting to Singtel ONR?

My UCG Ultra can't get an internal IP when in DHCP mode. I can only set Static IP e.g. 192.168.1.x for it to work with UCG Ultra (double NAT)

Thanks

I manually bridged SingTel ONR so no such issue.

I use OpenWRT VM now as the main router and not pfSense VM as my Intel N100 mini PC (dual SFP+ ports, dual 2.5G ports, running Proxmox PVE 8) only has 8GB RAM. pfSense consumes too much resources when running with pfBlockerNG-devel. OpenWRT consumes a fraction of resources (≤1GB RAM with OpenWRT vs 4GB or even 6GB RAM with pfSense).

I lived with Double NAT for about one month plus, but OpenWRT (as well as Asus) had no issues to get IP address from SingTel ZTE F8648P ONR.

great, thanks. I think its a firmware issue for ubiquiti, let me raise a ticket and see what happens.

just recon to VQ 3gbps, so if they can't fix this, I'll probably move to firewalla gold pro.

If you are getting 5Gbps or 6Gbps fibre plans, maybe can consider UCG-Fibre ? Since it is cheaper than UDM-SE and perform better at 5Gbps IPS performance than the 3.5Gbps IPS performance of UDM-SE

Setting up UDMSE or any UCG should be pretty straightforward to refer to manual (just refer to it on Ubiquiti site) or there should be tons of youtube video referencing it as well. (I randomly googled and found this)

can also play around with the design center https://design.ui.com upload your floorplan, designate concrete walls, and add the devices into the plan to connect them up to simulate how the WiFi signals may likely propagate.

Thank you so much. I played around with the design centre but it is quite hard for me to configure properly despite uploading my home layout

thank you so much for your advice. Unfortunately the UCG Fiber is sold out. Is there any alternative? The UCG Ultra?

Thanks to all the expert advice here, really appreciate it. I will go for the following setup

UCG Fibre (if there is stock) - Is a POE switch necessary? (they are quite ex and many available models) - U6 Prox

The other route is to use an PoE injector. :) They are much cheaper than switches. But, do get the correct model (power and bandwidth).

think the design centre shd be quite easy u just need to place device, and place 1-2 AP and shift them around u can see the signal strenght

Also can use the bottom icons to draw concrete walls on your floorplan so that the WiFi signals can also factor in the wall..

By End Q2 most of SG would have it. Not promising any firm dates.
If you have time to wait for UCG-Fibre to reach Singapore shores..
or UCG-Ultra if u ok with 1Gbps IPS WAN performance or UCG-Max with 2.3Gbps IPS performance

If you have an AP, you would require either POE switch or injector. Best case is if UCG-Fibre is in stock then you dun have problems.

Would my below setup be ok? Now just waiting for available stocks. thks

ONT - ISP - UCG Fibre - USW Flex 2.5G 8 POE - AP U7 Pro XG

looks ok I guess, but if you already have UCG-Fibre, it already has 4x 2.5G POE+ ports, so you don't need additional USW Flex 2.5G POE ? unless you have many more devices and need additional switch..

but also if you use UCG-Fibre 2.5G POE+ port to connect U7 Pro XG 10G uplink will be limited to 2.5G also, unless use the 10G SFP+ RJ45 + an injector then can fully get 10G uplink to U7 Pro XG 10G

updating my internet to 5gbps from StarHub, and need to rehaul my internet setup to match. Might as well build 10gbps ready home. Can someone sense check my setup? anything too extra? or things to change?

(UNAS pro is a placeholder for my own NAS)

Using a Flex XG in the study room because i want wired ethernet to my PC too.
Putting the UX7 in the living room so I can use a the UX7's 2.5gb port to a switch for PS5, Apple TV, etc.
I assume you can use connect UCG-Fiber 10gbps to UX7's 10gbps in...

Sorry I was reading and doing research the UCG Fibre only has one POE+ port? I am getting the u7 pro max as the XG is not available yet.

Generally is to avoid those with CGNAT/ONR, so can go for those with ONT = Starhub or M1
or if you are comfortable with double NAT then any ISPs with ONR also OK.

checkout the sticky thread for 2025 ISP Comparison, and especially the summary tabld of ISPs and CGNAT/ONR

Yes seems like it only has 1 POE+ port

How many POE+ do you require ? Maybe additional POE+ either use USW-Flex-2.5G-8-PoE or a PoE++ Adapter (60W) injector?

think nothing will be extra as long you got the budget for it.

so you are using UX7 as AP for both living room and study right ? Seems like the UX7 in living room + Flex XG in study should be able to Uplink to UCG-Fiber, I suppose you only intend the Flex XG to have 10G to UCG-Fiber while the living room UX7 is 2.5Gbps right ?

Switched from the UDM-SE to UCG-Fiber, first time used the Unifi App to setup and wow, it was so quick and seamless.
Just power up the UCG-Fiber, the Unifi App detects the new gateway. Chose to backup from UDM-SE and now I am up and running.

But I do encountered some issue with the unit hanging/crash...
I first connected using MyRepublic ONT using the RJ45 WAN port - works fine
Connected the Viewqwest SFP+ ONU to the SFP+ WAN port - works fine as secondary
Swapped the SFP+ WAN to primary and RJ45 to Secondary - unit hanged
Powered cycle and it was ok, SFP+ now primary.
Disconnected MyRepublic from RJ45 WAN - unit hanged
Powered cycle and it works fine
Disable RJ45 WAN - unit hanged
Powered cycle and it works fine

Sometimes, doing speed test via the console itself can hang the unit. So I stopped doing it and it has been running fine for the past few days.

Also, saw the new switches and APs...now eyeing the Switch Pro XG 8/10 POE and U7 Pro XGS.

Hi Experts,

i have just gotten my BTO and plan to use ubiquiti products for simple setup.
Planning to sign up with Singtel.

can i use Singtel ONR -> UCG Max ?
i planning to have 1 or 2 with 1 U7 Pro ceiling mounted in the centre of the house.

Will it be feasible or too overkill?
i am not tech savvy enough to change or play with advance setting LOL

Edited: i will like to have POE capabilities to avoid more wires if not Wife might kill me LOL

Why do you need more than 1 UCG Max? If want to use unifi router, will be better to subscribe to ISP that issue ONT.

A U7 pro ceiling mounted to center of house should suffice. Just need prepare lan point or cabling to the U7 pro.

UCG Max doesn't have poe port. You'd need poe injector or a seperate poe switch to power the U7 pro.

If you don't have many wired devices, an alternative will be UDR7. It has 1 poe port and have built in WiFi as added bonus.

psps, i was saying 2 U7 Pro ceiling mounted for better whole house coverage.
i am thinking is it possible to have UCG Max maybe connect to a switch (any recommendation?) which provide POE and to 2 U7 ceiling mount, as i was thinking of getting a POE Doorbell, can it work with Reolink Smart 2K+ Wired PoE Video Doorbell with Chime?
then lan wire to 1 of the room for my gaming desktop
