thanks.

I'm still unsure whether it's good to use wireless charging for phones. seems like some advocates wireless charging, some don't.

does wireless charging hurt the phone battery's longevity?

I have encountered overheating on both apple and XM phones on wireless charging...on the audi in car wireless and also regular magsafe chargers..so.much so..I wouldn't use it unless I forgot to.brinf a cable.

Heat in any situation is bad except when cooking food. This is my non professional ancient EE degree opinion.

As long as the in car wireless charging does not break the phone like the previous BMW - Iphone 15 NFC fiasco.. :sneaky:

( Change phone or change car /s )

Anyone buy and use China Xiaomi 15?

Is the phone user friendly and Google friendly?

I used to have 12s Ultra so I have use CN xiaomi.
1) Generally works fine, Google is also inbuilt but you need to enable it on settings.
2) Andriod Auto might not work.
3) If you have andriod wear you need both instance of Wear app Global and CN to work, since pixel watch app doesn't have CN version for a period of a time my pixel watch is not linked to my phone.
4) CN OS usually have very very aggressive battery saving function, you need to go to individual app and enable push notification and disable battery saving features if not your push notifications will be blocked until you launch the app.
5) You could unlock bootloader and use 3rd party Roms like xiaomi.eu but bank apps nowadays are very aggressive and will flag unlock bootloader hence you will be unable to use them.

You cannot flash global rom on CN xiaomi or your brick your phone the only alternative is xiaomi.eu roms but it is based on CN rom as well but with most of the CN limitations removed

if flash to global rom, then can use esim?

Opps sorry not sure.

Unsure if the Chinese rom handsets lack the actual hardware for esim or just a matter of software switching.

Also like what @speedknight mentioned, local banking apps and singpass etc may create issues if bootloader unlocked.

yep....stuff owners on this thread already know..superb best in class camera...video/photos jiak battery like cookie monster chomps his cookies..i don't know how XM can fix that given how much data it is processing per pic / FPS video.

it does show that all the amazing algo/compute that Pixel does cannot match a good sensor/lens.

Now waiting for Vivo X200U to show hand.

No amount of computational magic can fully replace solid optics and a big sensor. the battery drain is the tradeoff for all that image crunching though…

Will we see new dedicated co-processors (integrated or not) developed just to handle the image/video crunching?

Definitely possible sia. If got breakthrough in efficient ISP or NPU, then power draw sure can improve one. now all the heavy lifting still on CPU/GPU, confirm jiak battery like crazy. need some dedicated chip just for camera stuff then maybe can offload properly, save power and boost performance also 💪

good summary point on the 15U:

The Bottom Line

As of this writing, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra has the most advanced smartphone camera system on the market—and it’s not just because of impressive hardware, but because it actually delivers results that make you stop and say, “Wow.” The large main sensor, innovative periscope lens, impressive zoom, and even all the behind-the-scenes software enhancements come together to create a photography powerhouse unlike anything seen in a smartphone before.

But again, there’s a catch—this is not a phone for everyone. The 15 Ultra is aimed at photographers, content creators, and those who take mobile photography seriously. If you’re someone who just pulls out their phone, snaps a pic, and moves on, you won’t even scratch the surface of what this device can do. But if you want full control over your shots, enjoy a feature-rich photography experience, and capture images that rival dedicated cameras, this is the phone for you.
