My point is very simple is not easy to win pap now as majority as the fact of hardcore supporter vote ( pap or opp)is not easily won without convincing plan. The post is to dispel the fact that someone pointed out the possibility of freak result. Now is very unlikely.

Actually WP candidate for this election is really quite up there and might even be more qualified than the candidates from PAP. I think what matters most is for Punggol resident to choose someone that can represent their opinion and view in parliament and not choosing candidate that will just be a benchwarmer and stay silent behind their party group.

hwz is indirectly monitored by the incumbent.I really hope the strong pap candidates to come to strong opp home ground to contest. They probably still shocked on the GE2011 result.

As usual pap might say otherwise why not ask pritam come to marsilling to contest.

We all know each party are not confident either way at this point to sway hardcore supporter.

Come next Sunday, you really shouldn't be surprised to see results this time being worse than 2011 for the incumbents. It's hardly rocket science ;)

Sure. So same date of competition. Same venue of competition. Both singers are notified ahead of time when and where the competition takes place. So what's unfair about the singing competition I cited? :ROFLMAO:

Precisely because the "world is never fair" that one man's freak election result is another's paradise
Terms of competing has to be equal. Like both get to choose their own songs.

Very hard to explain equal and fair. Thats the difference in how ppl judge i guess.

Once competition starts , all terms should be equal. Before the competition starts , it is about fairness. But singers are judged on their singing not how they came to stage if you get what i means.

Which is my point, isn't it? The only difference in the example I cited is one singer getting to choose his own song while the other one has his song chosen for him (and in a language he doesn't understand). EVERYTHING else is the same. :ROFLMAO:

What on earth is freak election result? For me (and many others), freak election result is what happened on 30 May 1959 - reversing that is merely normalcy

As usual I say I will be very happy with the result regardless of the outcome. It's ppl choice anyway.
But after so many years of voting since 2011... Nothing has changed much. Election result for Singapore has always been very consistent.

I don't have much hopes as now we r still early. We have to be careful what we post as this may sway swing voters to vote pap because u mention opp gonna win more.

LOL nope!

Liverpool before season start has 5% chances of winning the league.
So 95% of us said that it is a freak/unusual result that Liverpool is winning the league.

But you cant say that 5% of the ppl who think Liverpool will win the league is a "normal" result.

I really hope you can get my point lol

We need more voices, not less. More WP MPs in Parliament will make Singapore stronger - not weaker.

There is no better time for change in Singapore than now.

Let's just say I have more faith in individuals acting in their self-interest. :ROFLMAO:

Mixed feeling about this, wont say u are totally wrong or make no sense..

But then at least its not a case of buy 1 get 4 free and the free are sth u may not even want but cannot even reject as it comes in a package..

Everyone strength and appeal is different.. Dont we have a high level civil servant joining this GE acting like she prefers working in the background (true or not in reality idk la.. alot of zhuge liang apparantly..)

Hardly. How you arrive at 5% is up for debate, which is the basis of our difference n opinion.

lol whether it is 5% or 15 % , it is still an underdog.

It is still a surprise win.

The crux of the issue still remains the equality of outcome vs equality of opportunity. Nobody expects an equality of outcome (we are both in agreement here); where we differ is on the equality of opportunity.

If the playing field is not level, there's no basis to talk about purely judging singers when they sing. If so, all the greater is the urgency in dismantling/reforming the system.

In the context you cited, there's no discrimination in the equality of opportunity.
