Dear all, i finally managed to recontract the M1 fibre 6gbps for 24months with the TP Link Archer BE805 for $32.90/mth. Previously was on 1gbps for $40/mth with no more contract.

Basically i find that M1 itself isn't clear about its own promotions. Whether it's through their online live agent or their own M1 shops (was at Tampines Mall branch). This was utterly disappointing. In stores, it was $35.90/mth but only for new customers. For recontract in stores, it was $47.90/mth.

My best source of information and confirmation? HWZ forums!

So how did i get this? Share this for those who are eligible to recontract:
  1. I went into my M1 app. Went to my existing fibre broadband plans
  2. There was a link that said i was eligible for recontract. Clicked on it. From there i went to the M1 website
  3. Online the price initially was $44.90/mth (again diff from stores). After i clicked to contract and mentioned recontract, i had to re-log in to see available vouchers.
  4. This is the important part. I finally saw the magic one. The $15/mth off for 24months. Clicked on APPLY
  5. Checked out after i made sure all details were correct and selected the dates for equipment delivery and equipment installation.

So how it became $32.90/mth? They used the in-store price of $47.90 - 15 = $32.90/mth.

Such a headache. But i hope it helps those still trying to find this promo, especially for those eligible for recontract (provided you have a similar voucher)

Thx HWZ Forums!
Except they quite ccb only give certain customers the $15 for 6gbps.

Im on gamer plan currently which is $53/mth, and they only want to give me $13 off for 10gbps.

But those on existing cheaper plans seem to have the voucher for $15 off on 6gbps. Seems like they don’t want to lose too much in monthly revenue on their end.

My current M1 fibre contract is over. I'm shifting house in a months time, how do i recontract to my new house instead?
I don't think you can simply re-contract and change to a new address. The last time I tried, I was told there would be a fiber relocation fee of around $60+ because M1 needed to activate the fiber port at the new location so there were additional charges involved.

In the end, I chose to terminate the old plan and sign up for a new fiber plan at the new address, since there was a free ONT activation offer available. That was about four years ago, so I'm not sure if the fees have changed or if they now allow re-contracting directly to a new address.

It’s best to check directly with an M1 shop to confirm the latest process and fees.

Can I use my old ONT & accept a slower speed if the new XSGPON runs too hot?

For me, the temperature is just slightly higher than the older ONT, but still bearable. The reading was taken with the ONT placed inside a closed cupboard, without any additional cooling.

Given that you are moving in only a month, it would save a whole lot of trouble and makes more sense to just sign on a new package in your new house, especially since M1 has the new house owner discounted package. I doubt M1 allows anyone to recontract to a different address as it requires a relocation process and fee.

No issues, M1 uses ONT so you are free to use your own router/mesh to its full ability, unlike Singtel.

M1, MR, SIMBA -- only use ONT

SH -- now mostly using ONT only. For quite some time Nokia XS-2426X-A ONR was offered for lower cost 5Gbps/10Gbps plans.

VQ -- using ONT or bridged ONR (basically the same as ONT) by default for new users, unless the user wants to set up in router mode.

ST/WC -- only use ONR now for new users.

Yes i am using TP Link BE805, the SSID for 5G and 2.4G will drop every 2 days. So i did a scheduler reboot everyday. Today, there is a new firmware update to fix this, so I have removed the scheduler reboot to monitor the situation
Hi , whats the situation with your BE805 so far?

May I know if the BE805 from M1 can create a wireless backhaul via the 6ghz channel?

Last time when I tested Archer BE805 (main node) + HB710 (slave node) with wireless backhaul, 6GHz band cannot be used as the wireless backhaul, only 2.4GHz+5GHz.

I could create a separate 6GHz SSID on the HB710 but that kind of defeated the purpose of the mesh.

Not so sure if the situation changes now or not. I believe not.

My recommendation for M1 users who want to use a mesh solution is to top up and get the Asus ZenWiFi BT10. For single router based setup, then Archer BE805 is pretty decent (even with broken MLO for my Intel BE200 based Killer BE1750 WiFi 7 adapter)

TP-Link EasyMesh solution is still not as mature as Asus AImesh or TP-Link Deco Mesh.

Just get a router rack with fan below it. Taobao or shopee got sell. Personally I wouldn't care since if breaks, just get them replace it.

Question for those who went from gigabit to 3/6/10 gbps plans. Since the new line is on XGSPON, do you see any real world latency difference?

I’m guessing 2.5gbps is on XGPON instead of XGSPON.

I’m guessing 2.5gbps is on XGPON instead of XGSPON.

Latency will not change much to the international locations.

M1 2.5Gbps is using GPON technology, same as the 1Gbps plan, or the legacy M1 500Mbps plan and 2Gbps plan.

XG-PON technology was used by M1 for a short while for the "failed" 5Gbps/10Gbps plans back in 2016. SingTel used XG-PON technology as well for its legacy 10Gbps plan but retires XG-PON technology in 2023 for its 10Gbps plan.
