My department is too toxic.
Even hv, I will not recommend to my friends either.

Dear Lchlch,

No matter how toxic it is, money is essential.

I need employment and have nothing to lose. Please introduce me.

Confidence for the future. More good years ahead... Let us take Singapore forward together.
Thank you.

Yes.
Honest answer.
Cos I know a new come in, no proper handover or updated docs will feel very stressful.
Cos I been thru that b4.

Then that's you reaping good karma.

But don't forget that most people don't think this way and those are the majority.

Just now one of my colleagues threw tantrum. She refused to do her assigned job. Everyday coming into office playing her mobile, going around chit chatting. Always complaining no one gives her project to do. When we gave her one, she complained why need to waste time to do the project. Very upsetting to have this kind of colleague in the office. Basically, she is paid to do nothing. Her husband is rich, she might as well resign and give her position to someone who really in need of a job.

Concur.
Another type of staff is wanted to see hod in deep zhit but knowing very well if hod in deep zhit, we also will pull in too. But the staff just light the fire n burn every body .
I suppose it all depends on the circumstances when people leave.

Take my HOD, for instance. She’s the type with a sky-high ego, always has to be the smartest in the room, and always wants to find fault even when there’s literally nothing wrong.

Just last week, I gave a project update in front of her boss. Everything was solid — customer feedback was good, KPIs were all met, and our timeline was right on track. Her boss was delighted and congratulated my team and me.

And what did my HOD do after that? She pulled me aside and this was what she said to me: “Just because everything is on track and targets are met doesn’t mean the project is doing well.”

What the fcuk ... can you imagine how I feel after hearing that? We hit every single target, the big boss was happy, but apparently, this is not a success to her .... if this is not nitpicking, then I don't know what is.

Truly unbelievable! Later I told the entire team that the boss' boss was very happy with the project update and thank the team for the effort and work; but the egomaniac said that is not considered a success. Everyone just laughed because we all knew what a thwart she is.

Machiam when you resign, you will update every document to the latest down to the hour before leaving the company.

This is reality la.

When I left, I'm the only one that knows the system. For past 4 years no documents were done, my boss had the audacity to say he wanted me to do the documents before I leave.

I paid my notice period and left :p
woah, so satki to pay off your notice period. you must really hate your employer

You click on the folders and you saw the time stamp and dates are few years back...

Inside the folder, outdated docs and procedures . Still have clips....

Is that call handover???

my advice, get off edmw and start doing what needs to be done. jjww here is not gonna magically make the work complete.

alternatively, u also can throw letter and pass the buck to the next poor chap.

We must remember, companies still operational even a very smart staff resign...
Nobody is indispensable.
If worst case, get vendor in to help.
Company will pay for the support amd maintenance.
This is so true. It is a matter of how much a hiccup they can afford.

They can easily solve all problem with money. Is how much they want to pay only.

In my ex ex coy, we do share knowledge as what you stated : Good To Know as a subject title.

My ex ex hod came up with his suggestions that all must be documented. Not only that, hod will ask one staff with zero knowledge to use the documents to do the task. If the staff able to do, the document is considered pass.
its good practice to document steps/better protocols at same time when one is doing his task and these can be refine at later stage and will benefit whoever gonna sit at that role in future or for understudy to read and learn. I did those setup from scratch for my understudy so that when he went go OJT with me (crash course no choice), least he has some data, info, research data, technical manuals to fall back on and not NOTHING like when I was there.

Some of the tasks can be followed by a newbie whereas the interpretation and analysis takes some time to learn...

lastly most important before i left I upload all these data into partitions into coy's cloud storage and a few heads/senior staffs added (w/ authorisation to edit/modify). so accountability settled.

Everybody is replaceable, no need to behave like the PGs, who still believe information is power.

Teach them the right way, they find it hassle and troublesome, they will use their own ways, they get into trouble, win-win for me.
Of coz everyone is replaceable.

Making it as troublesome as possible to be replaced.

You teach them the shortcut way. They get into trouble. They don't know the correct way to do it. You jump in to save the day. Value add.
