Eligibility

This offer is exclusively for customers who switch their existing postpaid mobile number to ZYM Mobile’s Roam Smart 5G plan, provided their number hasn’t been registered with ZYM Mobile under their National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) in the last 12 months.
that promo is for 6 months free, dont think it applies to the 5g part since it is a standard offering in this plan.

Those > $15 plans will be safe on 5G, no pulling factor to port in and out .. especially not with the free months

In Malaysia, if I see 5g I don't do speedtest as I know the speed will be decent, will not be as fast as SG 5G.

Weirdly some of my mates still get 5G NSA after 2 years plus

Very lucky, better keep mum and enjoy while it can~

can connect to 5G not bad already, maybe airplane mode and reconnect see if better speed.

next time, as I'm back in SG already~ 🫤

How do they plan to give 5G for 180 days at this point ? Provision 5G SA ?

ZYM-SIM-Plan-Update-0509-roam-plus.jpg
Is the 5G connectivity for 180 days already on 5G SA or still NSA? Anyone has speed tests of Zym's 5G? are the speeds better than M1 Maxx? Contemplating between Maxx and Zym.

Actually I use iOS dashboard to see the band & frequency, I do see Zym supporting SA + NSA … but just no toggle to enable SA 5G in the settings only. I have both ZYM and Maxx, really depends on your area leh. Certain places I use ZYM, certain places I use Maxx 5G-SA.

AFAIK Singtel MVNO has not yet receive 5G SA, but the 5G NSA is scheduled for shutdown by end of this year.
With that it is reasonable to believe someone that signs onto this plan will get 5G NSA now and 5G SA sometime end of this year until at least March 2026.

Speed wise obviously depends on where you use it, for me Singtel's network do have their edge in general esp in regards to overall coverage, but do lose out depending on where you are. Is this worth 50% higher price on roam smart, or take a gamble on how long roam plus will get 5G ? That would be the key question, esp considering that none of Singtel's MVNO has wifi calling.

It is still 5G NSA. I previously have Zym 5G NSA, now I'm with Zero1 5G NSA, both experience the same.

Comparing both Zym/zero1 5G NSA with Maxx 5G SA is big difference. It's not just about speed, but latency.

Outdoors average for Zym/Zero1 5G is only 200 to 400 mbps, indoors shopping mall around 300 to 500mbps.

Whereas for Maxx 5G SA is average at 500 to 700mbps. Indoors shopping malls around 600 to 1.3gbps.

Maxx 5G is definitely much better, it's True 5G Standalone network. Whereas Singtel is using 5G NSA for now till end of year

I find ios field test mode to be not accurate. I saw SA + NSA when it is clear that my Zym/Zero1 sim card is not capable of that.
The page that shows the toggle for 5G SA has a message saying Your current sim does not support 5G standalone if you have a 4G sim card, that has been more reliable in my experience.

Depends on which area you’re at/ frequently travel to. I travel to the east daily and am currently using both. Max some area/ stations. no network (full signal but page/video not loading) and zym speed on average is higher than max. Tested over a week. Intending to cancel maxx.

anyway plan is cheap. Can just try for 1 month and cancel.

as I’m typing this, I’m still waiting to send this message using maxx on the downtown line lol.

I agree, Maxx is not very smooth with the data connection at many places .. especially roaming in JB compared to ST MVNOs roaming partners I had previously used. I may wait till later and see how ST MVNO offers in the SA and plan price field for $15 plan with free months..

Also, Eight / Maxx, they are using the same 5G Network locally or in Jb, I won't have any factor to consider Eight in the "5G" area ...

Esp at $14.80, or even $11.80. 5G at $8 is a different discussion.

Remove the 12 months previous history requirement and I will probably bite.

[09/10, 5:41 pm] ZYM Mobile: Yes. To qualify for the six‑month port‑in bonus from a non‑Singtel network, the number must not have been active on ZYM in the past 12 months *and* must not currently be with Singtel, Gomo, Heya, ViviFi, Zero1 or CMLink. I can’t check individual eligibility—please let me know if you’d like to speak to a live agent.

Yup, that is exactly the issue and given that there is Zero1 & Vivifi, it doesn't make sense to try to find out if they enforce the check.

Zym vs m1 Maxx peak hour Bishan station same spot. Zym even faster than M1 true 5g SA at times. Best is to just pay 1 month and test at the places you frequently visit to see which is more suitable for you.
