idk why banks need to charge customers annual card fees. already using their card to give them business... promote their bank... up their publicity, still want to charge us fees.

worse is the fees are like increasing like inflation. last time annual fees are below $100. now? almost $200.

idk how many people really diligently pay annual fees... with all the perks of being a 'new' card applicant (after 12 months) there's no incentive to be 'loyal' to the bank, still want to PAY the bank to use their credit card? doesn't make sense...

I think a couple of banks have cards which are free for life. CIMB is one of them I think.

if UOB also refuses to waive for me next cycle I'll also cancel (without even considering).
They try to catch those who don't check statements and pay bills by GIRO

Yes, because no callback for online waiver request. So I called to check status. Was told it was rejected. I told CSO I won't use the card and will cancel before due date . She even ask me if I want to cancel now. What can I still say, she is more eager than me to cancel my card.
This morning I got a call from UOB that my fee waiver request is approved and I should receive an SMS and see the reversal of the fee in online banking. Till now I haven't received any SMS or see any reversal of the fee. Really conflicting information from UOB CS...

Hi all, anyone plans to stop using this credit card after 1-Dec-25? As most of us are aware, the EIR for UOB One account will be 1.9% pa (from 2.5% pa now).

I am pondering to move the fund out from UOB One account and stop using this card once the card quarter is over.

Please share your strategy, plans and/or thoughts. Appreciated!

it's no longer my main card... rather clock $1k spend with SC bonus$aver for a sweet 1.5% bonus interest on $100k (around $120+) every month. much more than what UOB one card can give quarterly.

I am more or less able to spend $1800 over 3 months, but not $600 monthly .... there are months you need to pay some bills that you need not pay in the next 2 months, and some things like dental which you only need to pay every 6 months .... and most of the other bills you have no way of "paying in advance" .....

can use Cardup/iPayMy to cover insurance payment or tax payment.

unless really nothing to pay for (super low maintenance) which is a blessing in disguise (y)

Don't think Cardup/iPayMy count towards eligible credit card spend for UOB1 .... am I missing something??

Does direct payment for insurance payments clock spending for SC Bonus$saver too?
Yes they do, but not many insurance companies accept credit card payment mode, hence for those who don't, Cardup works. Just need to pay a small fee like 2.25% of the payment amount.

by the way, this thread is for UOB One... so we shouldn't be discussing about other cards. paiseh.
