Hi bro, I'm also trying to find out what's the best option i can set up for my Aunt at her soon to be rental unit. She could be staying just for one year, or longer if tikam for new SBF flat fails.
Ok anyway my question is, your $90/mth is a two year contract for the whole package right? Does it include ch838 TVBJ and sports channel?

And would you know in the middle of this two years contract if she needs to relocate, i understand there is relocation charges for fibre broadband. How about the TV plan? Just move the TV box to new location?

Thanks in advance. 🙏

1. iirc got CH838, but Sports stuff seems to be in another Pass? Need to ask Starhub
2. Yes, 90 dollars for TV and Internet
3. If need to relocate (which we did a year or two ago), I don't think need to pay for either services but better ask Starhub cos it seems case-by-case

Interesting update: MR has removed 3Gbps plans for new sign-up.
Including re-contract as well. 2 weeks ago I was still seeing which 3Gbps plan to re-contract or stay with 1Gpbs.

Today i login see don't see the 3Gbps offer anymore. But interestingly still can re-contract for 1Gbps plan at $34.99

M1 website still got 3gbps. I think soon all will follow soon. 10gbps as base plan soon.
We're basically already there at least in price terms. The 10 Gb/s plans have crashed below $30 per month, so there's a lot of competition. As examples, Eight's 10 Gb/s plan is "permanently" at $28.80 per month on a 12 month contract (all-in; effectively even less if you're willing to contract for 24 months and sell a heavily discounted eero Max 7 router on Carousell), and WhizComms has a 10 Gb/s plan promotion right now at $28.80 per month on a 24 month contract including a $20 rebate, home telephone line, and 180 days of Singtel CAST streaming TV (all-in). That's effectively $27.97 per month with the rebate factored in. Wow.

Oh reminds me now Singtel cast giving preview of all channels during cny

How does stability of M1 and Starhub compare to Singtel/Whizcomms network?

Thinking of switching to M1, but seen some users mention about short connection drops. When WFH, I have to do remote connection to office computer, so need a stable connection.
Wonder if these issues are common for all M1 users or due to their home set up...

Also how about Starhub? Anyone experienced connection problems?

In the rare cases there are unscheduled fibre broadband outages during non-overnight hours they're generally confined to a neighborhood or small group of neighborhoods. Thus it's best to ask your neighbors what their recent experiences have been with various providers. They'll still be anecdotal reports, but at least they'll be localized and more relevant. Be sure to clarify whether their experiences are with Wi-Fi or wired connections. Reports based on wired connections are more helpful.

Relatedly, when working from home you can reduce the chance of a network interruption by using a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi. Also, have a charged mobile device with mobile data connection available as a backup. If for example somebody trips your master circuit breaker(*) while you're attending an important virtual meeting, you can quickly rejoin the virtual meeting from your battery operated mobile device. (If it's really important you can join the meeting from both devices — and keep the second device muted/speaker off unless and until you need it.) "Stuff happens," basically.

(*) I suppose you could put the ONR/ONT, wired routers, and your wired PC or Mac on a UPS so that they stay powered up if you lose electricity. And maybe an LED desk lamp too. But that's getting fairly silly, isn't it?

Agree with the points. I'm also using wired connection for my PC.

But I have a concern after reading these comments about M1 issues:

also

Can these be mostly their home set up issues? Anyone else experiencing same with M1?

Starhub maintains the #1 position in consumer Fibre Broadband market in Singapore (Starhub + MyRepublic Fibre Internet + eight Home Internet)

You can see from the above Starhub update that S$30 per month is now the price point of the whole consumer Fibre Internet market, including 10Gbps plans.

On the other hand, it is tough to reduce the pricing to S$20 per month as mentioned in Post #5.

1. Why it is difficult for local consumer ISPs to offer S$20 per month (with GST) Fibre Internet plans?

This is because NLT charges the ISPs at S$13.50 per user per month (1:24 split ratio). Therefore it is difficult for any ISPs to offer S$20 per month to happen from Singtel/M1/Starhub unless NLT reduces the price further. The lowest per month pricing previously was S$21.80 for WC/SIMBA 2.5Gbps plan but both have raised price (without wireless router bundle).

Between S$20 per month to S$30 per month, there are still a bit of play for the service providers. Therefore the competition will still be there even if M1 and SIMBA merger get approved by IMDA.

For example, service providers may play with the router bundle to cater for different user needs. For example, M1 starts to offer 10Gbps plan without router at S$30.90 per month (Chirstmas 2025 and CNY 2026 offer) but offer options for the user to top-up for different routers.

Hi TS, at first due to this one year lease at rental unit, i was almost about to sign up for SIMBA one year plan at $29.90 without router and get a 2nd hand or cheap router myself,
but there's a "catch" i think you can include in your first page posts:
Simba one year plan only waived NTL installation, did not waive the $50 device installation fee. So gotta factor in another $50.

In this case I think I would rather sign the two yr plan instead that waives all installation fees and gives free router, but i will find out from SIMBA how much exactly is the relocation fee in case we really moving after one year.

You would be better off in this situation with Eight's $28.80/month plan on a 12 month contract. You can optionally buy an eero wireless router from Eight starting at $128, or you can use something else. Their $28.80/month price includes installation and the NLT activation fee. It's a better service offering, too: ONT, public dynamic IPv4 address, IPv6 support (albeit only /64).

If you can stomach a 24 month contract, you can get a slightly lower effective monthly price from a couple different Internet service providers. For example, StarHub's PAssion Card 3 Gb/s plan (24 month contract) is a very good deal at $29.55 per month with free installation and NLT activation, $50 of shopping vouchers, and a bundled TP-Link HB410 wireless router (that you can sell on Carousell for a few bucks if you don't want it). That's equivalent to $27.47 per month if you get full value out of the shopping vouchers and zero value out of the bundled wireless router, or something similar (such as $25 of value from the shopping vouchers and $25 of value from the wireless router).

I'll see what I can do. Basically I cannot list down all the details of the plans. You have to read the details of each plan. And it is also good to check out the posts at the individual ISP thread.

Good M1 recontract offer reported recently.

I am currently on a 1Gbps contract which costs ~$40/month, and I am using Asus RT AX-88U router provided by M1. I am looking to recontract and found that M1 has given me some promotion, thus if I recontract on 6Gbps, it would be $37.90/mth for 24 mths, and if I recontract on the 10Gbps, it would cost $ 29.90/mth (without router) for 24 mths.

Take note M1 Physical Shop got new user offer for 10Gbps plan without router at S$30.90 per month.

Hello everyone~

After reading through the first page of the thread and the most recent posts, I am honestly confused as to which provider would be the best for my family to engage with.

Previously, we were on Starhub, the broadband we were on wasn't event Fiber Optic. Hence, since moving house, we decided to cancel and are now looking for a new ISP provider. After reading, it seems like sticking to Starhub would have been a better choice, but the cost was something that turned us off. Hence, I am hoping I can get some advice on which ISP my family should engage with.

Some brief details:
1) Family of 5
2) 1 WFH family member (me)
3) Occasional gaming and streaming drama, etc.
4) Staying in Woodlands/Marsiling area
5) Do not use cable TV
6) No knowledge about optimising the network, etc.
7) Looking at the 10gps packages
8) Cost is a factor we are considering, not willing to spend more than necessary (Range about $30-$35/month, unless getting the discounted router and selling it would be a better trade)
9) My mum has CIS with Starhub

Based on the above, which ISP 10gbps plan would best suit my family? I initially was looking at Simba or m1 because of their promo, but reading some of the comments, I am unsure if either would still be a good choice.

Really appreciate the advice and thank you in advance.
