Singtel recontract offer reported recently.
The good recontract offer of S$29.90 per month for either 3Gbps or 5Gbps (with one free HB611-SGST) seems to be not easy to get recently.

The website still shows S$34.90 per month now.

To translate this offer, by my math this is approximately equivalent to S$29.18 per month on a 24 month (actually 720 days) contract with a “free” eero Pro 7 wireless router and home phone line included.SIMBA 6th Anniversary Promotion
SIMBA Broadband - $0.99 New Sign-ups promotion….
I think what Simba is doing about it's marketing to clearly targeting SingNet customers. Yes, SingNet or now Singtel Fibre customers. Because these specific group of customers do not know what they want, they do not know some general technical specs. They will be the one to ask why I subscribed 5gbps fibre and I did not get 5gbps download speed on my phone and laptop .To translate this offer, by my math this is approximately equivalent to S$29.18 per month on a 24 month (actually 720 days) contract with a “free” eero Pro 7 wireless router and home phone line included.
Hilariously the bundled eero Pro 7 doesn’t have any 10GBASE-T ports. The best you can do with a wired device is (notionally) 5GBASE-T — one wired device. Which is a lot, but it’s not matched to the purported fibre line speed. Like a lot of other broadband providers posting “marketing numbers” for their notional fibre line speeds, you can’t actually use the fibre speed they purportedly provide. Not with the “free” bundled equipment anyway. But for Wi-Fi it’s reasonable. (Wi-Fi devices can only ever use a fraction of a notional 10 Gb/s fibre line speed in the real world.)
I’d guess the “Carousell value” of the eero Pro 7 is probably about S$200. Let’s round that to S$8 per month on a 24 month/720 day contract, so if you’re trying to compare costs this SIMBA promotion is probably about S$21.18 per month with this promotion. Which is inexpensive, but it should be. For “ordinary” home Internet users it’s probably fine, but the “geeks” (including me) prefer an ONT (or bridged ONR) and a public IPv4 address, at least dynamic. SIMBA offers CGNAT with an ONU — not what the geeks prefer.
WhizComms is very close to matching this offer. They actually cost less if you want to keep the bundled wireless router: $28.74 per month equivalent. But their bundled router, a TP-Link Archer BE400, has a lower “Carousell value” (maybe equivalent to S$5 per month), 2.5GBASE-T ports, a shorter security lifespan, but more functionality. WhizComms offers an ONR (which you might or might not figure out how to bridge), dynamic IPv4, no IPv6, Singtel core service and routing. Home line is included. I think I’d probably choose WhizComms over SIMBA in this comparison. And there’s no need to venture to Marina Square. You can sign up for WhizComms online.
@xiaofan: Here are some WhizComms updates I spotted:
- The WhizComms "2.5Gb/s" plan has been removed from their main page. They still have it quietly posted here, and only on a 12 month contract basis. But their 2.5 Gb/s plan doesn't make economic sense for new subscribers even if it's still available. That's because their installation fee and NLT activation fee apply to their 2.5 Gb/s plan. Existing 2.5 Gb/s subscribers should still be able to renew at $28 per month according to their T&Cs.
- All their 3 Gb/s and 10 Gb/s plans now include a home telephone line at no additional charge. (Post #2 upthread lists their previous home telephone line fee, but evidently it now only applies to some existing subscribers and legacy plans.)
- For those who cannot commit to a 24 month contract WhizComms has a very compelling 12 month contract offer at $28.99 per month for their 3 Gb/s plan including free installation and activation. In terms of price it very slightly undercuts Eight's 12 month contract offer since Eight uses a 30 day billing cycle, not a true monthly billing cycle. And WhizComms tosses in a free home telephone line; Eight doesn't offer that. If you can figure out how to bridge the ONR WhizComms supplies, it's great. However, Eight still costs less if you also have Eight's 5G mobile service.
Maybe it makes sense to have a dedicated page for sub-24 month contract offers? I think there are only 3 ISPs still offering less than 24 month contracts: Eight, SIMBA, and WhizComms.
