4G network will be there for a long time, say to year 2032 or even year 2035. So tourist can use 4G network if they cannot use 5G SA.

Same for local users with 4G phones, they can still use 4G. And I believe the mobile service providers will continue to offer 4G plans to deal with the lower cost segment of the market, at least for the next few years, say until year 2030.

6G is probably only available widely in year 2030, even though telcos may start the deployment in 2028/2029.

6G deployment process may be faster than 5G though as it is rather an evolution from 5G.

More info about 6G.
https://www.wired.com/story/6g-is-coming/

As blueprints take shape, the official requirements for 6G performance will be set by the United Nations International Telecommunication Union Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R), which will be called International Mobile Telecommunications-2030, or IMT-2030. (Following the decade-long upgrade cycle, 5G was IMT-2020, 4G was IMT-2010, and 3G was IMT-2000.)

Just adding on, might be either my phone or Singtel but it's still very hit and miss on whether VoNR is actually available (Might be my phone since it's a China Version of OP15 flashed to Global Version)

Sometimes it's VoLTE sometimes it's VoNR, I was both at Bukit Batok and Boat Quay area when I checked

Can iphone 15 and above support VoNR?

Intresting, giga has its own iOS carrier profile sepreate from starhub
Yeap, this was a pain point to GIGA IOS customers when they released 5G back then, which then they had to wait for apple to release new IOS 18 update just to get the 5g profile active

You can search up the thread and see those complains there

Kindly advise why my iPhone having call drop to LTE/4G when I make calls or receive incomings? I am using StarHub5G unlimited and iphone 15 with IOS 26.4.2. Any setting required? Last time did not notice this issue. Calls drop recently as well. Thx

That's the fallback backbone if VONR isn't available IIRC.
Also, did you check if 5G-SA/VoNR is toggled on in your settings?

where to find that 5G-SA/VoNR toggle switch in IOS 26.4.2? Voice Over 5G Standalone is ON and 5G Standalone is also set as ON. only 5G is set to Auto instead 5G ON. Thanks

Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options → Voice & Data → [select "5G Auto"; "5G On" also works but may consume more battery] → [enable "Voice Over 5G Standalone"].

If the "Voice Over 5G Standalone" option is not present then it's likely your carrier doesn't support it yet, or you don't have the latest carrier profile update installed. To trigger installation of the latest carrier profile update....

Settings → General → About

You may need to restart your phone after updating your carrier profile. You can also check the carrier profile version by looking for the "Carrier" entry on that About page.

Another possible reason that setting may not be present is because your carrier has chosen to disable that feature on your model iPhone. They may do that more for business reasons than technical reasons.

Actually what is the most reliable way of confirming if VoNR is running? I am still puzzling over this.

Appearance of VoNR status icon seems to be one way. I tested Gomo Senior Plan with Redmi Turbo 4 Pro. Signal is 5G+/5G but there is no icons (either VoLTE or VoNR) appearing on status bar likely due to a bug or inconsistencies of HyperOS. Phone is certainly running on 5G+ as speed test shows speed close to 700Mbps. I tried another way by dialling *#*#4636#*#* . It shows:-

With Gomo sim card:-
Status Icon: 5G
Current Network: Singtel
Data Network Type: NR_SA
Override Network Type: NONE
Voice Network Type: NR_SA

With Simba sim card:-
Current Network: SIMBA
Data Network Type: LTE
Override Network Type: NONE
Voice Network Type: LTE

I think likely VoNR is running on Gomo sim card.

None, since it's telco & device dependent, :s13:

Yes, it's telco & device dependent.

What I am trying to say is if there is a reliable way of checking if my telco and device is supporting VoNR. Can the info provided in "*#*#4636#*#*" be one way to verify that.

download any cellular info app, network signal guru, network cell info lite, etc. make standard cellular call and watch the app while on call to see if you're still on SA network and if voice network type stays on NR-SA. If so then VoNR is working fine.

if it shows LTE, you are not on VoNR, (many reasons; network, phone, carrier profile, errors...)

I think Singtel don't support VoNR or Vo5G underground?

My phone always switch to VoLTE once the train goes underground.
