Guys, i tried to follow every step that Devionex has set up but it seems that as the modem is being loaded to get to bridge mode, some pop up says i need to close everthing cause the computer needs to be restarted in order for the modem to be properly set up to bridge mode, after which, the set-up wizard will resume after the computer has restarted.

But after that, when the computer restarts, the set-up wizard doesn't come back up by itself and i have to manually restarted the set-up procedure again. Can anyone help me out???

Now I understand why there is this 'residential cd' thing. Thanks

You may upgrade your firmware to the Generic firmware released by Thomson
After upgrading to that firmware, no need to use the residential CD anymore

However, I wonder if upgrade firmware will void warranty for speedtouch modems issued by Singnet?

After following all the informations from 3~4 threads here, managed to flashed the firmware to international 7.4.3.2.

The default gateway address becomes 10.0.0.138.

I can set the VPI/VCI to Malaysia's 0.35. Or on some other modem, it's 0 & 35 respectively. Of course, I can't test it here right now, but I assumed it will be easy from now on.

Singnet's firmware served to
1. Make things simpler for people using Singnet.
2. Make things difficult for people to use it as 'bridge mode'. The need to burn a 'residential cd' is ridiculous & make things unnecessarily complicated.
3, Make things complicated for people trying to configure it for use in other countries.
The need to burn a 'residential cd' to change VPI/VCI is again ridiculous.
4, Setting the administrator password with the 'residential cd' is also too complicated.
The default 'user' without password does not confirm with what the modem's manual says & took me so long to figure out.

Let's hope the international firmware will make all things simple for this modem.

By the way, the administrator's account name & password is case sensitive.
The user name is actually 'Administrator' & NOT 'administrator'. Again, took me a while
to figure out.

Of coz doesn't come back up since the ip address to access it has changed after setting to bridge mode.
Also, your PC need to be set to same ip segment in order to access the GUI.

Haiz... the process to configure to bridge mode posted works fine. Juz that it does not cover alot of other actions outside the main 'configure to bridge mode' procedure cause it's written for the targetted audience that has some basic networking and client computing foundations.

The fact that I managed to get it working. I think I'll summarize it as such:

The "residential cd" is a work-around solution for modem with ISP-specific firmware like the one from Singnet. While the "residential cd" can do the job, the best is still to

1. Flash it with the International generic 7.4.3.2 firmware then
2. You will have free hand to change the settings of the modem like any off-the-shelf modem.
3. Then you won't need the "residential cd" ever.

With the Singnet firmware, the modem's ip address is at 192.168.1.254. After flashing to the international generic 7.4.3.2 firmware. The modem's ip address is 10.0.0.138.

So, to be able to access to the modem again, you can change your computer's ip address to something like 10.0.0.1. Subnet = 255.0.0.0 & gateway = 10.0.0.138. Then you can access the modem's page by typing 10.0.0.138 again.
