Hi

I am using Speedtouch 536 and WRT54G too. I didnt bridge the Speedtouch 536.

My connection
Speedtouch 536 -----> WRT54G -----> Ethernet port of computer

This was what I did,

For the Speedtouch 536:
1] Go to the Web GUI \ Home Network \ Devices \ Assign the public IP of a connection to a LAN device [LAN device = Router]

*Note the static ip assigned to the router by the modem

For the WRT54G:
1] Internet Connection Type: Static IP
2] Internet IP Address: [the static IP as assigned to the router by the modem]
3] Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
4] Gateway: 192.168.1.254 [IP of speedtouch 536]
5] Static DNS 1: 192.168.1.254 [IP of speedtouch 536]
6] Disable DHCP server

The internet works. Have I done it correctly? Any comments?:s12:

Method 1

1. Hard reset the ST536v6

2. Connect to router WAN port

3. Set PPPoE

4. Surf the net

Method 2

1. Use Residential CD and set ST536v6 to bridge mode

2. Connect ST536v6 to WAN port of router

3. Set PPPoE

4. Surf the net

Certain people encounter problem using Method 1

I recently got the linksys WRT54Gv7 and have the speedtouch 536(i)v6. Read the posts here and was v confused. tried the bridging method, but the setup came out an error after promting to restart. Then i closed the setup and the com restarted. Waited a while, no continuing of setup came out as it said. V CONFUSED. Looking at method 1, those terms such as WAN port and PPPoE are kinda alien. could u guys help by giving a more idoit proof step by step guide? MUCH APPRECIATED! THANKS! :)

Hi,

I just renew my SNBB contract and got this ST536v6 modem. I could not get it to work with my LinkSys router, I believe it is because this modem is also a gateway.

I have followed this link
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=1908344

to tried using the Residential CD to set this modem to bridge mode but could not get pass the login page.

I have entered the below login information, both without success.

UserID: administrator
Password: "modem serial number"

or

UserID: administrator
Password: <blank> (no password)

Could someone tell me the password? Other then using the residential CD, is there any other way to set the modem to bridge mode?

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

administrator as 'Administrator'. note the caps

Thank you bro. I am now able to get passed the login screen and have successfully set my ST536v6 to bridge mode.

But I faced with another problem. How can I configure my modem, now in bridge mode, to do the dial in to my singnet account?

I have tried to access the modem configuration menu by typing "http://192.168.1.254" in my web browser, but unsuccessful, as it is no more a gateway I think. I have tried using the SmartWizard CD that come with the modem and was unable to detect the modem. The SmartWizard was able to detect the modem before I turn it off to bridge mode using the residential CD.

So, how can I configure my modem to do the dial-in in bridge mode? Thank you.

After you have set the modem to bridge mode, you don't have to set dial-in configuration on the modem anymore. Instead, go to your router configuration and choose PPPoE, and enter the dial-in configuration there. Your router will do the "dialling-in" when connected to your modem.

Thank you sir. Ya, I am aware that I can set my router to do the dialing in. Just trying to see whether I can get the modem to do the dial-in and my router set to DHCP, as my previous setup was in this configuration. Anyway, I have set my router to dial in and everything is working now.

Thank you everyone, you are much much more helpful than Singnet Technical Support. Haha...dun force me to switch service provider, Singnet.

Can, by means of half bridge mode. The setting is supposedly easy but buggy. Not recommended.

'a' in lower case, not 'A'.
