Now alot of cheap 2nd tablets as too many tablets around, people selling branded tablets hptouch, etc around 250-400++ only ,so unless the china tablets <200 SGD it might not be too advisable to buy them if you only intend to try them out for fun like me.My opinion only though.

Hi to all! I was checking out some of the cheap tablets on merimobiles and pandawill and I am a little confused over some of the details of the tablets. Pandawill seems to miss out some of the details like battery capacity. Anyway, I saw 2 momo9 on pandawill, 1 with oem in front. IIRC, there was a comment on oem tablets. Can someone explain to me the difference between oem and those without and why oem is cheaper? Thanks !

Thanks bro w00t once again for your help. I have some question.

1. what do you mean by "Run Terminal Emulator and elevate to root privileges / be the superuser." Do you just mean allow superuser to access terminal emulator.?

2. Do I require busybox installed? and which dir should it be? system/bin ? or system/binx?

3. If everything fails (of cos i dont hope), is there any quick revert method?

Thanks thanks!!!
Sorry if some of my question sounds really basic.. i am not really that familiar with android os.

why momo9 again, and after all the "i don't advise" pandawill, people still want to gamble on them:s8:

Officially I can say momo9 is no longer worth it. Get something with 1GB RAM OR something with IPS for around the same price.

OEM in China tablets mainly means they are clones of those known brands, although most (if not all) China tablets are OEM lol

Maybe I should explain this way, Aoson Wopad M12 are better known in the community, but u can get the same thing with a tablet known as SXSY S10. Another example, Cube U9GT2 has a clone that's brandless found in Shenzhen market, so it's an OEM U9GT2 and not Cube U9GT2. Though they could use same firmwares, but the inside/parts maybe different.

Actually, ASUS just announced a 7" Tegra 3 quad-core tablet with 1280X800 IPS capacitive screen running ICS for just US$250!

CES: Asus shows off 7-inch quad-core ICS tablet for $250 - AfterDawn

CES 2012: Asus 7-inch tablet has quad core power - News - Know Your Mobile

With branded tablets going at such low prices for such impressive specs, the Chinese tablets will need to drop their prices to remain attractive.

Previously, my max for a MIC tablet was S$199 - now i don't think i will pay more than $149!

1. When you run Terminal Emulator, you are running as a normal user (shown with the $ prompt). After running "su", you would be telling Android to make you become the "Administrator" aka root. At the point, SuperUser app would ask you if you wanna allow that. If everything is successful, you should see a # prompt. This is a must.

2. Busybox is not required. wpa_cli is not part of busybox.

3. The change is non-permanent. Worst case just reboot your tablet. Else, off-on WiFi will reset everything back to default.

Nothing changed really.

When Ausu transformer is out, selling at S$699 (IIRC), China tablet single core selling at S$320-360 or in China 1499-1699 RMB (e.g. C91 or Ten). So 360/699 = around 51% of Transformer price

Now Asus quad core US$250, means Singapore selling around S$380-399 bah. China 7" IPS screen single core will be around 799 RMB, so RK30xx dual core should be around 899 RMB (S$185, SLS will try sell S$230 bah) and will drop likely drop to 799 RMB around June bah.
230/380 = around 60% of Asus 7", when drop 210/380 = around 55% of Asus 7"

S$149 for a China tablet already around liao ah, just not IPS screen and IPS screen. When one buy China tablet is for value for money, if it's for specs & technology buy the established brand bah.

Don't even bother to waste time see China tablet thread :s13: The faster u buy the better the ROI;)

U misunderstood me. What i mean is, the current prices for MIC tablets cannot hold. When the established brands drop their prices, the prices for MIC tablets will have to drop too whether it is to 50% or 60%.

Btw, i already have an iPad, a Galaxy Tab and a couple of early-generation MIC tablets so no need to hurry me to buy, friend :s13:

Well it doesn't stop people from buying China tablet then, it won't stop people buying then now. But asking for a S$149 IPS tablet now is just unrealistic anytime soon and that's what I'm trying to say. If it's a single-core S$149 1GHz capacitive screen tablet, now quite a few options liao.

If a newbie listen to what u say, imagine how long their wait will be.:s13:

U gave ur views of what u feel China tablet price should be, I'm just giving my views on the China tablet price vs established brand price had been in 2011 and what it will likely be in 2012.:s8:

Thank you for your reply! I have a low budget (around S$150+) so I am looking at maybe teclast p76ti or the new novo 7 paladin...:D

well, the new Asus 7" is supposed to be out in 2Q this year so we don't have long to wait before tablet prices drop :s13:

It's a no-brainer that MIC tablets will always have to be cheaper than big-brand tablets. My key message is just to hold off for a couple of months if possible because there will be a flood of low-cost tablets coming out soon. There has been a paradigm shift and a mindset change in the pricing of Android tablets and it all started because of the Kindle Fire ;)

There has been a paradigm shift and a mindset change in the pricing of Android tablets and it all started because of the Kindle Fire ;)

So how much will the various types of China tablets priced at after US$250 Asus 7"? What type of specs will the tablets likely to have? Does Asus tablet really going to have any impact on the China market?

Actually Q2 is a long wait, especially when there's no specific date. It could be the beginning or ending or Q2. Then it'll have to reach China to have any specific impact on China Tablet pricing.

It didn't really started with Kindle Fire, it started with Nook Color. The main change of mindset was when Touchpad became US$99. But even then, these are just crazed over outside of China market. Nothing much changed the pricing then.

Kindle and Nook has doesn't have a big impact on China Tablet pricing as they aren't really cheap when they are being sold in China. If u want to talk about US$199 tablets, the Lepad A1 has a much bigger impact in the pricing of China Tablet.

The 2GB version of A1 was sold out when it first came into China market. Then Ployer started the lead by advertising they'll sell the momo9 at 499 RMB, however that didn't came true. But when F0C became the 1st 499 RMB 1GHz capactive screen tablet (for better known shanzhai brand), the pricing of China tablet started to change.

Cube followed shortly with K8GT, then VX610W D, then P76Ti. After 1 month Teclast started pushing all the prices down. Like P81HD 1024 resoultion at 699, P72 EV2 dual-core at 499, T A10 9.7" IPS at 999.

Do remember China tablets are still being made mainly for the China market and not the International market. US$250 Asus 7" will unlikely to be selling at 1588 RMB, rather it'll be selling higher maybe 1888 RMB.

Currently there are 3G, 7" IPS screen tablets selling at 999-1299 RMB. So in Q2 we may see dual-core going at that price. The best bet will be EV2 dropping their prices.

So what could be expectated if anyone should decide to hold out for 3-5 months. On the 7" IPS without 3G, you could expect a dual-core selling at 799-899 RMB. There'll be a chance or BT and no GPS. RAM will be 1GB.

I will wait to see what Novo7-tablets will actually be shipping in february and most likely then take one of those. At the moment it seems I will get me a Novo7 Elf. I didn't like the asymmetrical Novo7 Advanced, with the touchsensitive buttons to the right of the screen. I don't like the Paladin because of the Xburst (non ARM Cortex) processor, lack of camera for videochat and missing HDMI-output.

The Elf seems to pack it all: A10 (Cortex A8) processor, able of outputting 2160p video via de HDMI-port. Symmetrical design with nice clean bezel and a camera in the mid. 1GB of RAM and let us not forget the improved screenres to 1024x600 whilst still being very portable as 7" device. Will be great for multimedia on the train, or to bring up some documents/manuals at work, I imagine. It's not IPS, but the price will be around $150,- which still makes it a smokin' hot deal to me. Lets hope the specs and pricing is right on this one and that it will appear very very soon!

The only thing more you could wish for was an actual 10.1" model, IPS screen, better connectivity hardware options (3G/BT/GPS), kick-/legstand and most importantly: batterylife! But we can't push it without spending more and more.

Elf would be perfect if it came with an IPS screen. I actually prefer smaller screens for Android tablet since atm there is still a lack of apps optimised for large screens. Hope it will be ard $150 too.

If u can wait a couple of months, there should be lots of cheaper tablets. Since the Kindle Fire, most tablet makers have had to adjust their asking prices
