Ladies who are into fashion at least and who take notice of what men wear in fashion magazines, will notice. But different women like different things. Some may like brainy guys, and don't really care how the guy dresses as long as clean, neat and presentable. Others (like socialites) will definitely want someone good looking who dresses very well and has money.

Concur on this too.Just curious, out of those ladies who are at least into fashion/style, did they mention on any key items they would look out on men?

Yikes! Thanks for posting your experience. I was thinking of trying them somewhere down the road in Bangkok but guess not.

BTW all, I think they will charge you for DHL shipping to Singapore, and not sure how much that will cost. Also, consider that if something doesn't fit well, you may have to pay for shipping back to them for alteration, and their shipping back to you.

I think given the price points, they are definitely better alternatives here in SG.

How about their fittings? They carry regular, slim fit or tailor fit?

Yes the main store at Raffles City have regular and slim fit shirts. What I really like is their range of shirts and ties, long collars, with narrow to wide spread, across many colors and patterns.

Possibly one of the better (commercialized) RTW brands in the market.

The RTW shirts, slim fit, bought at IMM, fit me well except for cuff button need to take in a bit. If you pay at full retail prices, the inhouse alterations will make sure the RTW clothes walk out looking fully tailored to your body. That's why the price difference.

Bangkok for 4 days. Shirts and pants only, no jackets. Recommendations?

Know Milan suit, Tailor on ten and crown Tailor only. Any of these are rip offs for the different prices they charge? Time factor too.

Side question. Who tailors for women?

Bangkok tailor thread can be found under travel>"Thailand"

went down to personality today, extremely disappointing! The shirt he made for me was too tight and when I sit down the shirt bunches up.

The owner, eric, said that it's because i requested slim and his other customer even ask for a even slimmer cut before. complete bull**** argument, just because someone ordered something slimmer, what does that even have to do about the shirt not fitting properly.

went to several shops in peninsular and i have always requested slim, and this is the first time i'm experiencing this problem. said it's not gonna fit and he said next time he can add one inch to the sides. WTF? NEXT TIME? THEN THE $95 HOW? because this eric guy didnt give any allowance on the shirt, once its too tight his not gonna be able to fix it.
brought the shirt to a next door tailor and he said its definitely too tight.

please avoid Personality on level 3 peninsula, went there because i read a few good reviews and decided to try something new, complete regret.

I went into Personality with the intention to give them a shot.
I was really put off with their customer service and I consider myself to be a pretty easy going customer.
It was a guy who served me - might have been the owner
I ended up walking out without giving them a try (Once I decide to try a tailor and go in the shop, I will make a purchase- this as a first for me)

Hearing your experience, I guess I can count myself fortunate.

Thats a nifty service, very nice touch! Their RTW shirts generally fit me pretty well, except sleeves are a little long.

as recommended by PetiaC, i went down Sze Sze Tailor to get a suit done.

here is the outcome.

pocket a bit too big for my liking

fantastic detailing, has my name embroidered on. love the inner lining :o

my first suit done, not sure what to expect, or what not to expect.
just felt that the padding on the shoulder might have been a bit overdone and the length of the sleeve on the suit may not be short enough

but a wonderful experience nonetheless

The sleeve length is of the correct length. It shouldn't be any shorter :) Suit looks good! Agree that the pockets are way too big. Good price.

I've tried them before. Nope, shipping to you is free, but for alterations, yes, you have to pay for postage back to them.

They are average, material is like the local tailors from Peninsular, probably China fabric marketed as Italian. Most are anyways.

They were better in the past, but now, they mix up some details. Like wrong colour buttons, etc.

Good if you are of standard build and just want fitting clothes for work. I wouldn't recommend.

peninsular tailors i think most have mixed reviews so do not have high expectations. but some of them do produce decent shirts.

tessuti probably the most high end there is well known for quality. service wise some may be put off by the lady boss.

dreamland also another popular one but lady boss will judge you.

men's tradition cheap with decent fabric. but workmanship was problematic for me.

dezenno uomo was my regular tailor. price was reasonable but they like to leave out of stock fabrics in the swatches. workmanship though is really average mid range kind nothing to shout about. the only reason i stuck to them was that they already have my measurements. having said i have since moved on.

end of the day you really get what you pay for.

Myself, colleague & brother used Crown Tailor both in Bangkok and during their visit in Singapore (and we've had friends use their service in the US) and have been extremely happy with their work and service. Once (after 30 shirts) had a shirt that had a small stain on it, sent them an email and voila, solution found from them - had to give them the thumbs up and felt like i like them from a 5 out of 5 to a 6 out of 5.

Crown has fixed prices for their fabric, less cotton, more cotton, high end cottons as far as it goes.

TOT is supposed to be good too - don't know Milan?

But anyways, have a chat to all 3 before deciding? This way you are at ease when you make your purchase!

In my opinion, collar of shirt is way too big, and pocket size is way too big! My biggest feedback is that your collar of the jacket is WAY too big for a modern cut. It looks like a 3 inch lapel, when modern jackets are only 2-2.5" max. You may want to get that fixed too..

as much as i wanted a slim lapel ala thom browne, the tailor advised against it as he said that it would work against my skinny frame with broad shoulders. he said that the skinny lapel would create the illusion of an overly broad shoulder :vijayadmin:

besides, i felt that the lapel was sized just right, classics never go out of style, right? :o

he is the expert, so i didn't want to argue with him and went ahead with the "50-50 lapel"

tho i must agree that his shirts aren't his best product.

Unker must politely disagree. I find 3 inch lapel is already slim but still acceptable to me. Any slimmer will look ridiculous.

My preference for dress shirts is no pockets.

So many things wrong with the above.

For Sze Sze, I'm guessing the fabric is a blend, hence the price?

edit: To the lapel debate, 3 inches is nice. F*** skinny lapels on business suits, seriously.

yes, if i recall correctly, he mentioned that it is wool blend, one of the more popular, bang for buck fabric

i initially requested that the lapel be done like the one shown below

he gave me a "wth in the world is this abomination" look and quickly advised against it :s13:

The lapel is slightly too narrow and too short. Lapels now tend to open at a lower level.

Ditto to that. They look slim and sharp, but ask them to try stretching. One of the guy's suit's button is like going to burst.
