Where to tailor clothes =D

Anyone got any recommendation when it comes to tailoring clothes (both guy & gals)?

Today i just to MAsterTailor @ Golden LandMark.. The owner seem like pro leh... Ask him to help me tailor a black blazer (Italian cutting aka slim cut)... Charge me @$165 & could be ready by this friday

Seems not bad & the price is cheap & reasonable... My fren tailor shirts @ the shop b4.. workmanship not bad. Hence Friday i am going to judge it myself =D

Anyone got other place to recommend?? share share

Hmmm.. the price seems pretty attractive... :o
any negative reviews from you guys...? :s22:

btw, since they'll only send back the clothings between 4 - 6 weeks time, I supposed it will be only for 1 fitting during this week?

& I have to go local tailor if there is a need for alteration after trying out?

I'm guessing no fitting at all. They ask you to bring your favourite or best fitted shirt and after 4-6 weeks you will get your end product.

I have given overseas tailors a try before due to the price difference especially with developing countries as workmanship is cheap. (You can get a shirt for below SGD35 in vietnam) But personally I stick to local tailors as communication, relationship with tailors and adjustments to get your ideal fit is not easy to get especially during short holiday trips. The great tailors in normal cases will not be able to make shirts in 3-4 days for you.

My vietnam shirt I had made came with darts I never requested and collar length, waist and button stance were wrong. Good thing is it was made within a day. Bad things was I was flying the next day. It was only $35 per shirt so if you aren't that picky it could be for you.

Price are indeed attractive for overseas tailor made... :s22:
However, thanks for your advice, guess I'll just stick it with local tailor for my 1st... :o

Any recco for places for adjusting of Denim Jackets? Mine's the Levis Commuter, smallish adjustments like slimming the sleeves and shortening it.

Is Michael Chain tailor considered good? I've only ever tailored clothes with him before, and was wondering how he compares to others. The price range is about 90+ per shirt, 400+ for suit+pants.

Michael Chain was one of my earlier tailor. Thought his shirt can be cheaper? (but that's aeons ago)

He can be slow and forgetful since he's OMO. His fabric range is just so-so, you can get your own fabric and pass it to him. Workmanship just passable while measurement, he got what I wanted okay as t I wasn't too particular at that time. Have not ask him for anything special on design so don't know if he can do it and do it well.

I've a question on dropped shoulders. What is exactly done to compensate for the dropped shoulders such that the material doesn't bunch up at the back for shirts?

Hi all, I need a blazer

Mostly blazer are to wear with t-shirt inside. So should I alter or just buy from shop? If alter blazer, will it like business man blazer?

As well, if to alter blazer, the pants design must be the same? (Some black pants have design lines than a total black)

where do u go to tailor ur shirts now then bro? I did a few at Dylan & Sons, but kinda exp for a daily office shirt if u ask me, so looking for relatively good tailor with budget preferably below 100. Grandcity wld be a budget one but then again the location is a bit sian for me plus their fabric aren't tat great

after tailoring with Dylan and kbks I refuse to go back to those $100> per shirt ones. reason is I don't get stupid excuses when my shirt doesn't turn out right. no such things as collar creasing, buttons not aligned properly. I'm not a difficult customer but I always feel that if a tailored shirt cannot turn out to look as neat as an off the rack shirt, I would rather not tailor at all. some, not all, of the lower end tailors can be quite disastrous.

btw if anybody is a fan of casual oxfords, you should seriously dropby kbks. 180 maybe slightly more expensive than Dylan's but they come with mop buttons and do not charge for extra trims and shirt loop etc. most important of all their oxfords feel great!

I think you are looking for a casual sports jacket and not a blazer. Although the term is wrongly used commonly.

The cutting of a casual sports jacket and formal suit is the same and subject to personal preference.

If you could fit RTW well you can try the offerings at uniqlo. Otherwise set aside a budget of 3-400 for a fused jacket and around 1k for a canvased jacket.
