Ooo... Thanks for the info, will check again over the weekend... :D

But why only iPhone will generate these messages and not other wireless devices?

Yes, I'm also checking using the Connect Time...

I setup custom router from scratch before, as far i can tell some "ocd" wireless client like to flip around band when ssid is same. Only few will not flip so much and kitkat and lollipop have option to choose either 2.4 or 5ghz or both band at the same time.

I read through apple forum regarding wifi drop issue and it is not limit to iphone 6 only. Majority user are using ios 8. But i have ipad mini gen 1 with ios 8.x, so far this issue never occur to me.

I think we persist because these routeurs were already purchased and we are stuck with them.

Then it's time to cut your losses or in this case frustration.
Peace of mine is worth it. I once tinkered it for hours to try it make it work, hope new firmware would solve the issues. But the light of day never came.
So I just dropped them like hot potatoes and went with something else.

I willing to bail your 87u for 150sgd.

Just got the Ac87u yesterday, I noticed that none of my devices is connected to the 5Ghz band when both bands are set to the same SSID. What norm? is there a way for the device to automatically connect to 5Ghz for faster rate?

Dear PentiumPC,

Please do not set same SSID.

Device unable to tell which is 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz.

Just like a family has two son, but the two son given name is same. When their mother calls her son's name and two of her son came down... but actually she only 1 of them.

Best regard,
JK

Add the 2 SSID set 5GHZ to preferred, no need to thank me.

Not sure you all mean the same as me when I say about 5Ghz DC from devices.... What I check for as follows

1) Reboot the router .
2) Get devices connected back ( I have 4 phones / 4 laptop / 1 IPAD ).
3) Check log that devices login and have a common start time as the router. I did a test from 11pm (at this hour no one should still leaving the house) .
4) Next day I wake up at 6am ... look at the log .... all connected devices should clock up to 7 hours appox up time if no DC over the night.

Last night and today I verify again ...

DC during the night

IPhone 6P (at 5Ghz)
Huawei Mate 7 (at 5Ghz)
Sam S5 (At 5Ghz)

The rest able to touch 7 hours of connected time.

Just wondering, those devices that DC-ed, do they auto-reconnect back? or just remained with no connectivity?

I have an AC66 and thinking of purchasing AC87 and set it as a bridge.

1) Will wireless performance be better if we have AC87, with one set as bridge?

2) Should both routers use same SSID for 2.4Ghz and a different SSID for 5Ghz? Eg. Wireless2 for both routers 2.4Ghz range for its SSID

Sent from Motorola NEXUS 6 using GAGT

I just test with AC68. Even the wireless speed test is faster than the 87U. Haha! 87U firmware really sucks

Very disappointed with this router. Although I really enjoy the wireless range that it offers, the frequent disconnection on WiFi is really getting my on nerves. Especially so when I'm gaming.

The disconnection happens on both 5GHz and 2.4GHz. Although I'm still connected to the wireless network itself, it loses connection to the internet.

Wonder if this is the issue that everyone is facing? :(

PS: Running on latest stock firmware.

Dear all,

Sorry for the delay.

This few days I will be releasing a public beta.

Not going to comment anything regard of iPhone wireless drop, if you want to find out more check their official forums.

Best regard,
JK

Well, since Asus wants to entirely ignore an entire subset of users, probably time for all of us to ignore Asus as well.

Good for you Asus. Finally acknowledging that there is no fix in the works for Apple devices and that we should all give up and dump Asus for good.

When you "disconnect" from the internet. Do you still able to access to router login page?

Do you have Aiprotection feature turned on? What wireless client you using?
