Ya. Go RMA, they open from a new box.

RMA is still brand new set. I saw my unit was opened from a brand new box..

hi can check with you guys who using ac87u. when i plug my external hard drive, how come my ram usage hit to 80-90% range where when i unplug it goes back to 20-30%?

is sth wrong here or something wrong with the firmware? im on the latest firmware. 4608

When first plugged in, the RAM will shot up very high, after the indexing is done, it will drop below 35%

but mine has been running for quite a while alr. more than a day. and still te ram is still high. unless its indexing forever cuz i always have new files writting on it?

I noticed that if I copy or FTP file over to the HD, the Core 1 & 2 CPU & RAM will shot up but after the activity is stopped, all will starts to go down immediately.

I am 25 hours in and I think I finally have a perfect firmware form RMerlin finally!!
see my posts here and a link to his firmware for me.
and I have beamforming off but that 0 thing mentioned here seems to have no affect so I left it at its default 3600 or something.

1) If can hold the purchase, hold it first.
2) If cannot hold the purchase, perhaps look at other model till Asus fix the issues.
3) If cannot hold the purchase and die die want an Asus router, buy and use RMerlin's firmware located here.

I don't use AP mode so you will have to try on your own.

But to me that Merlins firmware is a masterpiece
All problems are gone, I will certainly post if anything shows but I really believe that firmware is perfect (at least for everything I use).
Now I can recommend this router.
I just hope future firmware does not destroy it but we can flash back to this. Alfa3.
