- NEW: Ad blocker based on Trend Micro's Web Reputation System (WRS).
This is an EXPERIMENTAL feature implemented by Asus but that
isn't enabled in the stock firmware.

- FIXED: DNSFilter would fail if you had it set to "Router", and didn't
have a DNS IP entered on the WAN page.

There is something very unusual going on. I've reloaded 4950 yesterday and everything seems fine.

Did a speedtest on my win7 and win8 pc.... seems normal. Speedtest for ipad also seems quite normal. However speedtest for android is way too weird. I get almost 0 mbps for my upload test for all my android devices!!! Download test seems ok.

I am stunned... tested speedtest with my 4g android devices and it seems ok too.

Hi Jong, problem is intermittent... so still too early to say. One thing I realised is at certain sites..... my 4g data work better than my 1gb fiber .. via wifi. 5ghz seems slow.... i think other had reported that their 5ghz is lagging too. Hmmm.... I am hoping to jump to merlin... or get back the reliable n trustworthy 68u...

Trichard, 3200 isn't problem free too. Dun wanna pay for premium features that doesn't work..... smart connect etc. My usage is quite basic.. most more data intensive stuff r wired.... just need a decent router that gives me some range..... sigh......

It's probably true already, but make sure beamforming is off. That made my 5Ghz "lumpy"! It might be worth also trying a tool like http://www.inssider.com/index2.html?utm_expid=80366919-52.xFTKjY6_QkGzl57I2-Qj1g.1 to check for a good 5Ghz channel. Not knowing where you live, I imagine even 5Ghz could get a bit cluttered in a modern apartment complex.

Problem with wifi connected but no internet connectivity still persist on 5ghz.....

Lost internet connectivity while device is active - wifi in connected though

Mostly default settings

With the other weirdness you were reporting I had hopes it would fix it. It kinda comes back to my earlier comment though, that I think the reset of this router is just unreliable. Reinstalling the firmware worked for me, but maybe that was a coincidence and it was just a fluke that the reset worked properly that time. I really don't know.

Any best way to clear everything from the router before installing 4950? I have done a few rounds of resetting and flashing... none of it works.

Giving this router a last chance before it goes into the garage section in hwz. Dellboy got this problem as well with his win7 notebook.

As you were posting this, I was trying my luck by changing channels on 5Ghz. Loss of Internet connection is intermittent, sometimes it takes up to a minute to get connection on start up of the notebook.

I am having a huge problem with this 87u router that I bought today. Some background info: I am using Singtel unlimited fiber and I managed to set it up so there is internet connection on my computers.

However, I some of my programs/games are unable to connect to their respective servers at all, for example

1. dropbox unable to connect or sync
2. League of legends, garena plus unable to connect to server
3. dota 2 unable to connect

I have not changed any settings and just set it up normally, the only thing i did was select the special isp requirements - (singtel-others) when setting up. Cause this was the only way i can get internet connection, if I don't select that option I can't even get internet.

So anyone having the same problem or have any idea as to what is causing my programs to not being able to connect to their respective servers for data? (I am not that tech a guy, so never rly mess around with the settings too) Thanks!

U can try downloading the latest firmware from Asus support site. Lastest version should be 4950
