Getting ready for the next range of ASUS routers? ;) :D
I am not moving from the AC87R. Merlin's firmware is great, I have a fan keeping it nice and cool and even the Apple products are connecting without any issues on the 5GHz band! According to inSSIDer, the TrendNET USB 802.11ac adapter is reporting the 5GHz signal to be nearly as strong as the 2.4GHz band's signal! The difference is only -2 dBi.

This is the first dual-band router that I have owned whose 5GHz signal strength matches that of its 2.4GHz band. Even clients in my daughter's room, the farthest from the router, are connecting without issue. For the first time, a wireless signal reaches her room without using either a repeater/signal booster. Simply amazing!

Dear Jurong 640,

What is the difference between C and G?

Best regard,
JK

G for local set.
C is export set

N910G uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 @2.7ghz Quad Core
N910C uses Samsung Exynos 5433 @ 1.3ghz Quad core, 1.9 ghz quad core.

not sure if they use the same WiFi antenna.

Just upgraded my RT-AC87U to Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.5134 hoping to resolve frequent 5GHz WIFI disconnection with my IP6+ but encountered issues logged into management webpage. Mgmt webpage just took forever to load. Issue still persisted after couple of hard reset and reload. Later I found out I could only logged into mgmt webpage within 30 seconds after router reload but after a very short while (about 1min), mgmt webpage could not load anymore.

Later i successfully downgraded the firmware to 3.0.0.4.378.4608 and mgmt webpage login issue resolved.

So far no luck with Asus Router. Last time I used RT-N56U and it will hang after weeks of usage then have to restart.

I think i will go for router from other brand in the future.

Can share? 😁

Sorry, but I can't...
Not because I don't want to or I'm not allowed to, it's because forum says I don't have enough posts to share links (on PM's I get the same message).

Maybe ASUS@SG can get firmware and release notes posted later.

Thanks, and as you said if ASUS@SG wants to take off your post and post it directly here, I have not problem with it.

I have an ASUS contact who shares me unofficial betas for feedback purposes and because I have provided several bugs found on previous versions with N66U and AC87U devices.
But he didn't attached the release notes of it this time. He's quite busy always, so usually ASUS@SG post beta's before I receive it from him (who is a great source too)

That's great! Keep us updated with your testing progress. I would have joined you if my ac87u was still around. :)

Hi Renfred89,

Your Note 4 is

Model number: SM-N910G or SM-N910C?

Best regard,
JK

Hi Asus@SG
i don't mind helping you test for samsung tab pro 10.1 (t525)

I am also still facing fluctuating and wifi 5ghz dropping issue
on this firmware 3.0.0.4.378_5587

for some reason the 2g signal is the same strength as the 5gh one

router is in the living room in front of the bomb shelter

I am in my room about 10 meters away near the window.
if i close my door the signal is almost gone and keeps cutting

-78 db would be my usual signal if i close the door.

If i want stable signal i have to turn on the rt-n66u which is now in my room and pluged in to the lan port on the wall as an access point
