Guys
while browsing some 2nd hand dealer company websites, I came across some timepieces listed as brand new 100% unworn.
Their statement is brand new 100%, warranty dated.
Buying from them, are there any advantages since the price they offered on their websites aren't that fantastic . Wouldn't I be better off buying from Authorized ADs?
Would service centres honor warranties for watches bought from non ADs?
Bro, savings are meagre because arbitrage has eaten into any price difference.
And if you're not completely happy with the watch in the metal from online dealers, what can you really do?
Imho, the pricier the item, the more important it is to eyeball, touch & feel it, so I can walk away if I'm not completely satisfied.
An authentic rollie with valid warranty for eg should be accepted in any RSC worldwide.
A value buyer like me (ie. poor & kiam siap) would buy 2nd hand because the 1st owner would've absorbed the initial depreciation. Also: no box, no papers, no warranty card (even if expired) - no deal.
An aristocratic buyer (ie. the rest of you ballers here) should consider buying from local AD for the following reasons:
1. You get to see, touch & feel the watch in the metal to your heart's contents under your loupe to check out the dial alignment, micro-scratches, etc.
2. You know for sure you're getting an authentic, genuine piece.
3. You can develop a relationship with an AD sales rep that can translate to better discounts and perks for future purchases, even invites to their events for canapes & champagne.
4. Dispute resolution can be done face to face.
5. The warranty starts from the time you hand over your CC, instead a pre-dated warranty where you get days, weeks or even months fewer. Heck, technically it is a 2nd hand piece even if unworn!
Or ... you or a kind friend can pick one up if you/your friend is able to plan a business or holiday trip to include a detour to an AD overseas known to have stocks at a good price ... and savour the satisfaction of not being forced to hand over 7% Go Squeeze Them to the gahmen.
Cheers!
