Went down to Sitex hoping to get this router but only to find it completely sold out at all outlets; even pre-order has ceased 😞. There must be a very huge demand for it.

Guess I hv to try X8 instead.

Time to join in the signal strength party :s13:

Measured using A8, which is known to be a wickedly good wifi receiver  2m away from mighty AC5300

First up 2.4G Channel 11

Next up 5G Channel 36

Lastly 5G Channel 149

wow your 5g-1 and 5g-2 very strong and my 2.4g same as u... mys both 5g very week set same channel as u and 2M away unblock using Note5

hmmm do anyone know change region on wireless will increase TX power?

saw in at sbf

According to posts (in Simplified Chinese) from this early adopter, the stock firmware allows users to switch "regulatory region".

http://www.chiphell.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1414275&page=1#pid31304018

With different region setting, he found the below txpwr_target_max values:
US 24
Singapore 14.75
Asia, Australia, China, Europe, Korea, Russia 10.5*

Apparently he is only checking 2.4G txpwr values, might be indicative of what happening on 5GHz though. This perhaps explains why the other user saw poor 5GHz performance.

Seems the firmware at the moment is only polished for US.

Re

Aiya, my SC is on the 5GHz 2-band connection only and I have 2x5GHz devices and 3x2.4GHz active only

Don't know why all of them are connected to the 2.4GHz band. All are having the same SSID

Again? I think you need to read carefully what other forum members had advised you earlier.

Don't think increasing tx power will change performance much. After all, you need to increase received signals. For me, I changed the antenna and both tx and received signals improve tremendously.

I just changed one. It is an extremely high gain antenna that I bought in CommuniAsia, from one of the Chinese booths. Normal Wifi antennas have a gain of about 2dBi but this one boasts of 14dBi. Just imagine 12dB improvement in gain! As of now, inSSIDer shows that my received signal is -26dBm.
