Dear all,

I'm in need of your help, I have the RTAC87U for 3 months and was working great until just 2 days ago when the 5GHZ radio started to behave very strangly.

It began rebooting automatically and the 5GHZ Led would not light up. After a cold reboot it worked... for 1 more day.

The next day suddently rebooted itself again but when it came up the 5GHZ LED light would not light up, the LAN1 port LED blinking is really weird and it would not work anymore, LAN1 is dead.

Also the Wireless General TAB is messed up.... I can't attach a screenshot due to insufficient post counts.
The whole configuration page has all but gone,
with no tabs anywhere and just a single pane in the middle of the screen on which I
can't do anything and I have to reload the router main page in order to regain access.

I'm on firmware 3.0.0.4.378_9313

What I have tried:
3.0.0.4.378.9177, hard reset, same problem: 5 GHz radio is not ready, LAN1 port not working
3.0.0.4.378.5134, hard reset, same problem: 5 GHz radio is not ready, LAN1 port not working
3.0.0.4.378.4950, hard reset, same problem: 5 GHz radio is not ready, LAN1 port not working
3.0.0.4.378.4608, hard reset, same problem: 5 GHz radio is not ready, LAN1 port not working
now I'm back to 3.0.0.4.378_9313, hard reset, same problem: 5 GHz radio is not ready, LAN1 port not working.

I have also tried Merlin but no luck as well. Trying to telnet to the router and upon investigating I think I've found that the Quantenna is not booting. Not sure if this can be fixed or not. I'm beginning to think it's hardware related :(

I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks

JK,

Unfortunatelly not, I bought at Amazon USA 3 months ago, and I'm currently in Argentina LOL so I need to find a way to send it back. I have a 2 year warranty, so perhaps I can find someway in that timeframe to send it.

Bad luck for me...

Thank you both for looking into this.

Woah! Your Samsung TV use localhost as hostname when request for dhcp. Epic fail from Samsung.

Hi All, recently i have ugraded my fiber broadband to 1Gbps and bought a Asus RT-AC87U router. But Im not sure why the wifi signal is so weak. The speed is about 40Mbps(tested using speedtest.net).

Can anyone please teach me how to solve this problem? Do i need to do any router setting to fully max my internet speed?

Thank you

Hi there, as every home is different and there are also many different clients, no one would be able to give you any confirmation whether changing to ac87u will help in your case.

My experience - I was using Linksys ea6900 and had no 5ghz signal in the toilet (separated by one concrete wall) about 20m away from the router using an iPad Air. Changing to ac87u, I was able to get full 5ghz signal (3 bars) on the same iPad Air.

Hi there, I suppose giving more details on your site conditions and the type of client you are using will help the folks here in sharing our experience with you.

You could consider posting the betas in Malay. That way these trolls definitely wouldn't be able to use them :s13:
