the dell at best denki is 1799 for i5-6200U 1920x1080 8GB 128SSD. Didn't see any i7.. and it's only 1 year warranty. lol. Too expensive

School deal is way better

And for the comment above macbook pro IS NOT WORTH IT. atm... Since it's 2-3 gen behind.

Same thought...not worth it :s12: .

MBP 13(2015) i5 vs current gen i7. Similar performance, better battery on MBP as well. It's a lot easier to run both Windows and MacOS on MBP than on Dell XPS. Only go for XPS 13 if you need the new thunderbolt port or infinity touch display, which drains even more battery lol. I must admit, Dell XPS 13 is lighter as well but MBP 13 @1.6KG is light enough for me so I don't mind the extra 250-300g. As far as service goes, I do believe that Apple have a better customer service though I did not use Dell or Apple's product before but I heard more Dell complains compared to Apple.

Dell or HP laptop got 8% discount?

Beside discount, any free gift like laptop bag, case mouse, extended warranty...etc?

When I asked them, they say 8% disc will not get freebies. But if nv take 8% disc then will get freebies. Depends on you whether you feel which one is more worth it.

It isn't just about the performance. It just doesn't make sense to purchase a device that's nearing EOL. Heck ,the new module should be released last month with better processor, even better battery life. MBP is really a good com, just doesn't make economical sense when a new one is near and the value will drop soon.

Thought buy from school not allowed to sell within 24 months. :s13::s13: I doubt they will check but I do not intend to sell my laptop anyways.

"Please note that the buyer is strictly not allowed to resell the set of notebook/computer and any bundled items (including bundled software) that is purchased under the NTU Computer Ownership Scheme within 24 months of the purchase."

Thing is if it launch beyond September(Uni starts in Aug), I do not have a very obvious better option apart from 2015 MBP 13. Pretty sure Apple keeps even the old models updated with new software so I don't think it's nearing EOL anytime soon. "An end-of-life (EOL) product is a product that does not receive continuing support, either because existing marketing, support and other processes are terminated, or it is at the end of its useful life." New MBP is just a new product and MBP 2015 will still receive support from Apple just like older generation of iPhone.

I would definitely want to see the new MBP 13 and potentially get it but if Apple don't release it by the end of this month, I am getting 2015 version. Don't want to start school without a laptop, don't have a spare at home to use first. Sure, 2015 MBP 13 may get a price slash following the launch of the new MBP but what can I do?

I'm using a custom build desktop at home. The old asus laptop which I had for 5 years, the keyboard already spoil.

I bought the UX305UA for $1398, with free external dvd, laptop bag, a wireless mouse and antivirus. :D

I almost wanted to buy Lenovo 710S as the screen really sharp. But I don't quite like the keyboard especially with the right shift button. Lol
Don't know if I made the right choice though, but it's about $100 difference with UX305. So end up decided to get the cheaper one to save some cash :p

Hi there,

I also wanted to buy the Asus ZenBook and the RRP prices as as follows:

1) UX305UA-FC013T, Core i5 = $1,398
2) UX305UA-FC004T, m3-6Y30 = $1,098

But when I went to Courts, the salesman told me that Courts will stop carrying Asus laptop bcos their motherboard always got burned. He claimed that company like HP & Lenovo previously used Asus motherboard and because of this motherboard problem, both these companies have decided to stop using Asus motherboard.

He then persuaded me to buy Acer instead ...

Any experts here can shed some light into this ...

Now I don't know what laptop to my for my daughter. She doesn't do gaming, no video editing. Only using it to surf the internet, watch YouTube, use Word & Excel, sent emails.

So my requirement of the laptop that I think i will be purchasing is as follows:
1) light in weight - less than 1.3kg
2) min size - 13 inch
3) processor - i5
4) 8gb RAM
5) Budeget: preferably about $1,100 but can stretch to $1,400

I am thinking of Asus UX305UA-FC013T, Core i5 at $1,398 but since the salesman dais that, I kinda hesitated as I haven't dome much research into laptop.

Any idea which laptop is good with the above requirements ?

Thank you very much

Lol the ux is fine. It's endorsed by most of the poly and university etc. since they are endorsing it. It's easier to get repair parts due to the high quantity should any thing happen.

Acer tend to overheat. And of course the commission is higher. :).

Thanks Magickiller9 for your take. I think you have a point.

Do you have other similar range laptop as an alternative to consider ... just so I can make some comparison before I make a purchase ?

Thank you & cheers

I would recommend MacBook with Retina Display.

Thanks BraveCloudy but my daughter's preference is to go with the Windows environment.

She is the only one in our family that uses Windows while the rest of us use the Mac iOS ...

Other than Macs & Asus, do you have other similar range laptop as an alternative to consider ... just so I can make some comparison before I make a purchase ?

Thanks & cheers
