what is the OS used in the notebook?

Did you install drivers on the one that didn't recognized the enclosure. Usually it has nothing to do with the enclosure but the chipset used in the enclosure. Sometime some OS detects it immediately, while on another OS, you may need to find the necessary drivers to install so that the OS can detect the existent of the external device.

Just like one of my hdd docking station, on win 7 it detects the hardware and install the drivers while on the win vista, I had to install find the driver for it.

Spent sometime in SLS just now to look for enclosure.

I bought one at $12. It looks quite nice but doesnt really fit( the led light bulb causes the case to buldge out a little, or maybe is i dont really know the right way of fitting)
Brand : Elite Notouch (http://limages.vr-zone.net/body/9021/actual.JPG.jpeg) something like this, but the fonts is smaller

the shop also another type for $9


BTW, second update, i tried to fixed the " bulging" now okay alr, looks nice!
Its at lvl 5, the shop name is " best buy" or something. new shop from the staircase can see alr

Btw, ytd i bought 1 from my neighbourhood computer shop (brand of enclosureIT Ceo) for $15. I would say this is a very good buy for me IMHO. Easy to fit in, plug and play. if only they got anothher black one, i would buy that too.
