My 2017 65" OLED C7T had a really strong defect at the right bottom side. does this fit a factory defect problem? because i am very sure it is not a burn in effect matching that shape.

LG SG as expected just $$$

As the warranty expired, the estimate cost to replace the panel:-
1. Labor: $210.00
2. Panel: $3,150.00

Those are disgusting figures. LG should at the very least offer your a discount upfront for your next purchase, citing better technology & savings from insisting on repairs instead.

If you don't mind, might want to publicise your grouse on Facebook etc. to spread the word. LG should have a better service recovery in their SOP.

PS: These days I’ve accustomed myself to the poor reliability of modern electronics, speaking generally.

I believe it has more to do with the planned obsolescence in electronic/electrical products. With more & more appliances & devices running on motherboards/PCBs that allow for shortening of replacement cycles, we consumers just have to use the warranty period as a general guide on the longevity of our purchases.

In this world of subscription this & that, I simply divide the purchase price by the number of months in the warranty to decide if I would be willing to fork out that sum for the use of the item.

Bro it is good enough that some share my sentiments. kpkb on social platforms create too much sadness for society lah. Anything these companies willing to provide are goodwill gesture. if they dont so be it cause i am only 1 unlucky consumer out of millions of their customer. you think they care?

See the standard email reply is enough to know they do not care......so move on to non LG non OLED brand....

Understood.

I am using the LG OLED65C7T, hence I'm in this thread. Had the panel replaced within the warranty period. Mentally prepared to purchase a new set when this one goes kaput.

That said, though, I am happy with the picture quality of the TV. Likely to buy the whatever iteration of the series when it is time for replacement.

Best way as I've mentioned in another thread is before your 3 years is up, request for a panel replacement.
This way, once the warranty ends, you have a brand new panel which can last you another 3 years.

Our warranty period is actually longer than some other countries like the US where their LG OLEDs only have 1 year warranty.

Probably can read the fine print terms for claimable panel defects in the warranty section. Such as if have more than a certain number of dead pixels or dead pixels clustered together or stuck ON pixels may qualify for panel replacement under WTY period.
Also, I have read reports where LG was offering panel replacement for certain older generation OLED models as a 1 off for burn-in during WTY and also when expired. I believe @LiLAsN ie commenting on these if I’m not mistaken.
Bottom line, perform diagnostic panel defects well before your WTY ends and see if eligible for WTY claims. And if you are, count yourself lucky and u may also be well treated to a “newer” OLED panel more resistant to burn-in as a replacement.

I had my LG C7 panel swapped citing it had a dirty screen effect. Which it did. This issue was solved with the C8 onwards. But it was glaring at that time. So they sent a technician down. As long as you mention that you find it distracting and can't tolerate it, all the technician can do then is just request LG for a panel replacement.
Then you wait.

But if you guys have an LG C7, chances are you guys are out of warranty right? So doubt you can do anything about that now.

The dirty screen effect to me is on a white background, there's this yellowish looking stain look. That yellowish stain 'look' on a white background is actually the dirty screen effect if I remember it correctly. It was a long time ago.
An old post that I could find discussing about the procedure is somewhat like this.

i have no evidence but i never let it burn in at that position. the defect was only green blob or green tint. it is still ok with other colours. i searched around the web and it seemed 2017 panel has much complaint and exhibit the same green blob/tint issue.. I will try to see if they are willing to offer some discount for next set. But i doubt they are willing.

Otherwise i will just go for non OLED in future. Especially for 65" TV.
Sharing my experience as i called them in end Jan for my burn in + Green blob issue. They only offered a 15% discount for the panel replacment and waiver of the technician fee. I have the 55inch, and the panel replacement cost is about 1500 SGD before discount.

I decided to go back to Samsung NeoLED instead. OLED was not working out for me anyway because my living room is too bright, and I can barely see my TV without pulling the curtains

This is my second LG TV in 8 year. My 1st LG TV die on 14th month and LG refuse to cover under warranty. Thus getting LG OLED55C7T were the second chance I give to LG. In fact this is 3 chance gives to LG. second was LG G3 phone.
1st TV dead in 14 month with all over the forum panel issue having horizontal lines. Well common issue for LG
2nd LG G3/G4, manufacture default overheated processor fried the CPU. Well done LG...
3rd LG OLED557T, green blob / darker red spot in middle of the screen. All those 100K OLED advertise screen time is crap..... Not to mention LG refuse to update the software for their outdated letsencrypt certificate(from 2020 tv onward).
4th LG Soundbar with Digital Atmos 2 year old... lt already start giving problem like wont turn on without unplug the power and Google Assistant is a joke.

My advice is KEEP LG out of check list forever. my mom cheap Philip screen lasted over 10 year.

To those believe new screen is better or issue already fix... good luck...

My 65C7 should be more than 3 years now. Recently noticed greenish burn in at the area where the subtitles are

Digging this thread up, my 55" C7 shut down immediately upon powering up. Any idea?
It was OK when my kids watched their favourite show in afternoon.
in the fast 5 secs on power up, i can see a band of light dirty artifact vertically at the center of screen. OMG...

Since this thread just brought up, i also share my experience my 2018 65C8 seems panel spoiled after 4 years. Its cant power on and i was turn off the standby red light in system setting so unable to tell if it power board or panel problem. But the technician said mostly panel problem now brought back to check further. I bought 3+2 basic extended warranty from Court and they said i will still have to bear 30% of the repair cost, around $900+ for the panel. If this the case i will rather buy new TV. Has phobia with LG now although i very impressed with their webOS layout, superb user friendly. Was paid $6300+$700 for the extension back then, feeling heart pain now...

Sad to hear that. My C7 55 have auto switch off issue upon switch on. I can see a glimpse of the picture < 5 secs. Will call LG and see what they say as it is out of warranty.

This sounds like a problem that some 2017 models had. I remember some people here in the forums reporting that they got a call from LG about getting the power supply replaced because their models were affected. If you did not apply for warranty online, they probably don't have any way to contact you in the past to get the power supply replaced. Perhaps you can quote them on that regarding this issue for the 2017 C7 TV that you have.

Hopefully, they might still honor it after all these years considering they don't have any way of contacting you to rectify this issue then.
