Agreed that pixel will always be first to get newest updates. But sometimes latest software doesn't necessarily means it's better and bug free.

I have a old s7 which my son is using. It was working so well when in Marshmallow and Nougat. When updated to Oreo, the battery life like sh*t.

Same goes for my old pixel XL, eversince updated to Pie, I hardly can use it as daily driver as battery life is very cui.

Did you try to do a factory reset with Pie? There maybe some apps that may not be fully compatible with Pie yet.

I think most companies are aiming for 2 year upgrade cycle. If you have the Pixel 2, most likely won't be a huge upgrade to Pixel 3XL. Same thing for iPhone XS, not a big jump from iPhone X. Same for Note8 to Note9, S8 to S9. These days, it's mostly incremental updates.

I think Pixel 3 is still a worthwhile incremental upgrade. Literally moving to a P2XL design and retaining a single-handed navigation form factor. Out with the thick bezels and a 40% louder speakers and wide-field camera with improved visual core processor and Titan security.

This is something that big G hasn't addressed on the implication and significance to rooting. It seems to be geared towards enterprise use much like the Samsung Knox. Need G to come out with an official statement on the future of rooting with Titan in the picture.

I haven't rooted my P2 since day 1 and don't know what that could hold for rooting in P3.

haha. i'm moving from the pixel 2 to the pixel 3, but still i don't think it's completely worthwhile for most consumers since prices for the pixel 2 has already dropped. Pixel 3 is better in almost every way for sure, but it's also so much more expensive compared to a used Pixel 2XL now. But for enthusiasts, we're not quite like most consumers. hahahaha. 20 more days to go!

i normally do a factory reset or clean flash for major version updates. Start on a clean slate. For me I actually find Pie a little better for my battery life on all the phones I've tested with Pie. Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Essential Phone. The adaptive battery thingy seems to work for me. But as usual with battery life YMMV one. Since we will have different apps installed, and maybe some apps you're using is buggy on Pie or what.

I am waiting for good promo in Nov (BF) or Dec (Xmas) in the u.s store. Still have my usd100 store credit from my P2 last year to offset the new P3. Last year promo offer was good. They gave Usd100 store credits + a limited edition Corel red home mini for free.

Which month did u exactly recontract with singtel?

I have been following the prices and i am pretty sure feb march 2018 singtel was still selling the pixel 2 xl 64gb recontract at $848 which is also the same price during pre order.

At launch so Oct/Nov 2017 and it was for Combo 3, not Combo 2. I believe it was $598 but I remember shortly after, it dropped to $498 or something like that.

AMK Hub has the Pixel 3 in white, and Pixel 3XL in Black and Pink. Not sure about other stores, but most likely is have one.

Well in my case, I can. Because last year I contracted to get the iPhone X. I'm a singtel circles subscriber so I get to recon every 12 months with no penalty.

Yeah I also under Singtel Circles. 12 month contract for one nominated line. But last year recontract on 14th Nov 2017 during pre-order. So 12 months will only be up earliest on 14th Nov 2018 as well.

But I've not decided on getting the Pixel 3 XL just yet. Perhaps this weekend then go get some hands on fun on display set at singtel stores.

Within 3 MTHS, your backside will itch again to change new phone. So does the 3 yr guaranteed software update makes any more sense to you?

By the time sd845 and 4gb ram will be obsolete.

Right now, a new s9 cost $700 compared to $1249 p3. See if that is worth $550.

If price is main concern, I would choose to give OnePlus a try instead of the S9. Personally get very turned off by Samsung's ecosystem and everything they throw in their phones.

Since the Pixel 2 last year, the Pixel line from Google is no longer value for money.

Yeah, feels like the move from Pixel to Pixel 2 was a jump but the Pixel 2 to Pixel 3 is only a step.
