The build-quality is better, yes. The display is better - I love the smaller bazel, and don't mind the giant notch. But all that for that much money? No.

If I'm being economical here I'd say hold on to 2 XL and wait for the next cycle. Hopefully more breakthrough tech will make it into the 4 - things like in-screen fingerprint scanner, foldable display, smaller notch and even smaller bazels, etc.

BTW, the bottom speaker does sound muffled...

Thanks for the confirmation. I simply cannot justify the upgrade cost. There is not much to gain moving from the 2XL to the 3XL. Hopefully, the 4XL will have very small bezels like the iPhone Xs Max which I was very tempted to move to but resisted as I still prefer (stock) Android. I don't care much for front firing speakers. I will take an edge to edge screen over the speakers anytime. And please keep the fingerprint sensor...

I didn't. But they changed the promotion afterward which should have included those that pre ordered before they changed it. I have another friend in the same situation as me. No news at all. Whereas another friend who pre-ordered the same day as well got an SMS 2 days back about how he will get another SMS again about the Pixel Stand. Totally bonkers. Haha.

Same here. I don't understand the need for dual front facing speaker. While in public, most people are on their earphones. And anyone in a civilized environment would frown upon those who blast on their phone speakers. While at home, maybe the speakers are useful, but then again, if you want better sound quality, earphones are the way to go. You always hear more with earphones than your phone speakers.

I feel Google dropped the ball here with their design trade-offs. None of the well received phones give a **** about dual front speaker. It's for pathetic youtube reviewer to pick on.

So the confusion at Singtel end are due to changes in the same promo...pixel stand for
1) pre order signups with Datax3
2) pre order signups who qualify only after Singtel change to no Datax3 requirement
3) pre order signups who sign up with no Datax3 requirement

Since you fall under #2 thus its sorta limbo state until they sort it out since i guess the system won't tag your order with a pixel stand since your order placed before #3...#1 & 3 should be tagged with pixel stand...that's just my assumption...

I'm under #1 where I am checking why I need to sign Datax3 since they removed the requirement from the promotion

Just set up my Pixel 3 XL. Noticed that the security patch was Sep-18 out of the box. Applied an OTA and it went straight to security patch Nov-18.

I also noticed a sticker on the box that states that eSim is not available in Singapore. Not a bummer to me personally but surprised to know this.

And what a stark difference on the screen! The Pixel 3 XL's screen looks so much better side by side my Pixel 2 XL.

If you plan on getting Pixel 4 XL next year, get 64GB. If you're planning to hold the phone for a couple of years, get 128GB.

I intend to hold it for 2 years, so thinking of the 128gb.

These are good points. However today I watched a video saying Pixel 3 is designed for the average user (not techies) and I agree with it.

TBH the front facing speaker works very well for me in several situations. One example is when I'm in a car, I can ask Google Assistant to play a song to keep my kid entertained without having to connect to the car's bluetooth audio system. The sound quality is much better than my iPhone (plus Siri sucks).

I guess during the design stage Google decided to go with functionalities that satisfy the majority of the users. I guess the speakers is what most users chose to keep.

It all boils down to different departments not communicating with each other. You'll be surprised how folks like myself and some others who received the email on the delay and singtel who 'graciously' deicide to give us additional freebies, the CSO didn't even know about it. Best thing is the system didn't even show the extra stuff that we are entitled to.

When I asked the CSO about it, he just told me everything will be delivered with the phone. The casing as per singtel's email is the personalised casing from Google. How on Earth can I get it with my phone without Google knowing the design I want printed? -.-
