2018 Macbook Pros launched

I personally find the butterfly switch keys to be ok (and I do like the clickier feel and larger keycaps), but the stuck keys issue is real and I encountered it myself at the Apple Store - yeah the Orchard retail store.

The caps lock was permanently on and didn't respond to any presses. Asked a store specialist to check it out and he pressed on it HARD before its light turned off.

if they're complaining about clicky/noisy keys, I think I'm used to it specially I been using mechanical keyboard since ages ago hehehe... What' I'm actually still adjusting is TB F keys function, I would really very happy customer if they would offer a bump up specs of those non-tb version but sadly they dont offer such

bump that 2015 version. that is instant gold right there.

think they rather bite the bullet and embrace the vision of their future.

but i really miss MagSafe. that is one thing that is so good on Macbooks. jus too bad it is a single function port.

Available in Apple's clearance page if I'm not wrong. Saw them this morning.

Personally don't mind the 15 inch. Price wise it's comparable to the Zenbook Pro 15 but just worried about keyboard longevity (esp on a $3000++ notebook). My 2012 rMBP keyboard is still doing great and I just think these butterfly switches won't last as long.

My 2013 imac starting to slow down. Doesn’t help that it doesn’t have SSD drive. TBH dont really needs a notebook since all my computing is done at home but the small footprint makes the MBP attractive.

But only its ex lor. Some more need to buy USB C to gigabit ethernet adaptor & other stuff since MBP has no USB 3 ports.

yes actually I'm waiting to see if this new model no issue with bootcamp and eGPU.

there's also what prioritization I need to get right now performance issue wise my MBP 2016 still works like a charm can still keep up with latest games and mobile+web dev (boost with eGPU + 4k monitor lol)... my real issue is mostly on storage. I have 500gb SSD... 150 on MacOS and 350 on Bootcamp both running out too fast. Already trying to move some files on my external drive

I'm more dire needs of new iPad than MBP huehue.

Based on the pattern of implementing like the Touch ID, it goes from iPhone, to the iPad, then to the Mac.

actually i wanted a Mac Mini plus + PC setup.

since my MBP was traded in, i am running on a PC for quite some time now.


is it ez to setup? i now the housing itself quite ex.. and i only play 1x PC game nia

Yes bootcamp + eGPU and also using MacOS half of the time when not gaming.. personal and work related stuff.

setting up was headache until you learned how to read on eGPU.io... once that done works like a charm.... for gaming it's beast, I even max out totalwar warhammer 2 on 43" 4k monitor with my MBP 13" lol.

I'm casual gamer trying to avoid gaming this days and focus on updating myself for work related but I easily get bored and just switch to gaming mood ... I've actually assembled/dissembled 2 rig in expand of 2 years... just ditch my last mitx build last December.

you actually given me idea of my ideal setup is if they gonna bump the specs of mac mini + with thunderbolt 3 connectors that would really works like a charm on my setup... would save me $$$ in the future. Hopefully we can hear some rumor for their September update

Big change in processor I feel. Dual core on 2017 and quad core on 2018. Unless you can find a good bargain on the 2017 models, go with the 2018 models bah

The upgraded processor and 32GB memory for the 2018 models should be snappier since I used PR and AE on my MBP 15 (2017).

On my 2017 model, the encoding progress bar seems to be crawling like never ending with the fans running at full blast in the background

Too bad, I bought the model few months and the next upgrade is years away

By then, your next machine will be a beast! I'm still using the mid 2015 model and no need for any upgrade. Perhaps I'll get the 2020 model.

Yup. I just walked in around 8pm. No 2018 models yet. Staff are not aware when as well.
