2018 Macbook Pros launched

The upgraded processor and 32GB memory for the 2018 models should be snappier since I used PR and AE on my MBP 15 (2017).

On my 2017 model, the encoding progress bar seems to be crawling like never ending with the fans running at full blast in the background

Too bad, I bought the model few months and the next upgrade is years away

How many months exactly is that? Try to have some dealings with Apple CSO? I’ve seen some success stories on r/Apple

I will be getting a 15" with applecare. It'll be my daily machine for work for network designs and installations...video editing on the side and photos.

Having a hard time deciding between the i7/16/512 vs i9/32/1tb

Will be keeping this laptop for at least 3 years..

I already have a Mac at home too...
Hope the benchmarks for the i7 vs i9 come out soon

to me as long as this model is part of the Keyboard Service Program for MacBook and MacBook Pro. i guess it wont be as bad as everyone think it is?

I tried selecting my dream specs

15" + i9 + 1tb SSD + 16gb ram (never added the gpu in equation coz im gonna use eGPU)... its wooping 5k SGD or 400 SGD monthly if its instalment... too much ey?

is moving i7 to i9 really big performance boost? is that really future proof worth it? 8 core...

I never owned laptop with i7 before its mostly i5... and previous rig so far only 1x I built with i7 never notice the difference with my type of games. mostly RTS/building simulation/MMORPG

alternative is

13" + i5 + 1tb SSD + 16gb ram ... 3.7k or 300 SGD monthly...

actually that will depend on how CPU intensive your game is going to be.

i gather you are on 4k, then mostly you want 60fps. which is going to be CPU intensive.

i added mine config: 15" + 16GB = 4k
then add in the sleeve = 300 SGD
AppleCare? 500 SGD
then USB-C hub = 200 SGD

i really am not the target audience after all
this might also be my first i7. was on i5 all along.

If you feel like you are squeezing for time everyday, then it would be worth the upgrade. It is that simple, really.
