Hi everyone

I observed that battery drains pretty fast on standby mode. I charged fully then close the lid (on standby). After 5 hours, battery dropped to 45%. Is this normal or my battery has some problem?

bought a 13' MBP 2018 for my kid, encountered a couple of reboot in one week... kernel panics something, all seemed to happen when MBP was idle/sleeping.

do i belong to that 'small number of" users who have this issue?

any suggestion? exchange won't help right? don't think it is caused by faulty hardware... OS already in Mojave.

mine is macbook pro 2017 version and keep having random unexpected shutdown.. and i cant turn on the machine immd, need to wait for a few mins.. and keep crashing even when logging in.. not sure is OS issue or hardware (did diagnosis but nothing found). but my gen macbook kena the ssd service program, so not sure if related.

if still cannot i will just ask for 1-1 exchange.

The refurbished 2018 models are now available on Apple Singapore website.
Prices are 15% off the official retail price.

For these types of problems , it is caused by either the CPU or the Ram overheating .

So... I am a windows user for life, but feels like it is time to try Macbook for the first time in my life.

Should I get the MacBook Pro 2018 with Touch Bar, 13.3 inch - 2588.
, should wait for 2019 MacBook Pro or stick to windows laptop?

get a refurnish set, cheaper and full 1 year warranty by apple themselves. Saw 2018 models are out on refurnish store

Yup second this. I just got a quad core 13 inch 2018 model. 2199 only, about a 15% discount!

Only real difference is the box design, it’s completely brand new otherwise. Makes no sense to get new if there is a refurbished model available.

I am interested in that. How's the performance? What are you using it daily for?

Performance is great. I do typical daily tasks like web browsing, media, office applications etc. Also some photo and video editing in Lightroom and Final Cut Pro. Battery can last you a day if you do light tasks, better to keep it plugged in if you are editing heavily.

Very happy with it but tbh might return it and get the dual core instead. I lose the touch id but prob will get better battery life. For my use case, I think even the dual core can handle the occasional 4K video edits.

I don't think you can get much longer battery life with the dual core. The current 2018 is already fitted with a larger battery compared to last year version. Furthermore, dual core version comes with gen 2 keyboard which will spoil much easier that the 2018 gen 3 version. Though covered by Apple's warranty, it may take days/weeks to get it replaced. You may wish to consider that.
