Just bought the 256 GB version.
It is okay for my use cases. I have existing Mac Mini M1 8GB/256GB as well. 256GB is just nice even though 512GB would be better.

Good move if you have a large photo library.
I pay Google to store the photos on the cloud (2 x Google ONE Standard 200GB plan now, S$80 per year). Once we exceed 400GB, we will have to go to the next tier (Google ONE Premium 2TB plan at S$140 per year).
Google Photos used to be free and we got too many photos there. When they announced to start charging for Google Photos on 1-June-2021, I was comparing local storage using NAS versus the cloud and chose to go with the cloud. Luckily they do not charge for the old photos already there before the date.

this is the reason no matter how convenient the cloud storage is, including icloud, i dun want to use it to store photos, becos it is locked in to it.
i would rather spend extra cash to buy bigger storage iphone or external hdd to storage the photos, at least i have control to my own storage and not being locked in by them. most importantly the money spent on the high tier cloud storage is recurring cost and u cannot recover the cost. at least i spent on a hdd/ssd, like situation now, it may even appreciate in value due to the scary hike in price now.
those provider also like to do this, provide attractive free storage at first, then once they lock in the users, they start to change. and the users will be stuck becos the 'switching cost' will be high by then.
for macbook neo case, actually can also see that the price gap to up storage is quite reasonable. only $150 to up to next storage size (512gb), for iphones, other macs, the price is always $300 minimum. not to mention it comes with touch id as extra on top of the storage difference, so it is quite worth to get the 512gb option. not to mention that the SSD hike now, bigger storage for just $150 will make it even more worth it due to this.

is it cheaper on shopee? becos normally with vouchers or discounts, the price can be even cheaper than educational price.
Do you foresee use cases which require the power of MacBook Air M4? If yes, and you are wiling to go with refurbished Apple proudct with one year warranty, just go ahead.
If your use cases are all covered by the MacBook Neo, then it probably makes sense to go with MacBook Neo.
Apple product usually can last for very long and I do not trust refurbished product to last as long as a new one. Therefore I would not go with the refurbished Apple product myself. Just personal preferences.
bro, i had bought the refurbished macbook pro 2015, 2018 mac mini and my friend (thru my introduction) also bought the 2020 macbook pro.
all of these until today are still working.
other manufacturer, i seriously will not trust their refurbished, but apple, 100% can trust no issue.
even youtubers they also introduce due to this.
in fact, none of the apple products i had bought spoiled before. the most physical damage due to own fault.
my iphone 4, ipad mini 1, 2, 3, iphone 6 plus, iphone SE all are working still as of now.
