I'm looking to get a 7 seater SUV for the family. i soft of shortlisted my choices to the following, budget around 150k to 180k

Kia Sorento
Merc GLB 180
Mazda CX-8
Skoda Kodiaq
Peugeot 5008 (facelift model coming soon)

I'm wondering if there's any models I might have missed?

I'm leaning towards Sorento. But never owned a diesel car before. Not sure what are the potential problems (besides the expensive road tax!)

Diesel car the particulate filter need to change as it doesn’t burn as clean as petrol. Road tax higher u already mention . Need to drive like a taxi in order to make the savings v costs worthwhile.

Nissan serena e-power! It's less than $150k and super spacious and it's a hybrid.

I see. so it doesn't look like a lot of saving for diesel cars. Abit bummed out the Kia doesn't bring in the petrol version of the sorento.

Outlander lo
I went to see the Outlander. unfortunately the interior cannot match the other models I've seen. so far most impressive is Sorento, but diesel car.

I'm intending to check out the new Peugeot 5008 when it's available.

Skip GLB180. Not enough power.

Personally, I will go for either Sorento, Kodiaq or 5008.

I see. looks like the 5008 could be one option. I'm hoping peugeot price it competitively.

there's not a lot of Skoda owners in Singapore. I wonder if there's reliability issues with the kodiaq.

i quite like the Peugeot new night vision safety and Sorento side mirrors camera.

on the contrary, i think Skoda is pretty value for money just a bit plain on the insides and tech.

Seat Tarraco might be another alternative. Same family as Skoda.

I was reading that it shares the same platform with kodiaq and tiguan.

but I guess I also have the same concern on reliability with the seat. if I'm not mistaken, there are actually lesser seats than skodas in Singapore too.

I have looked at most of these. Go test drive v important.

I found GLB200 power was ok but engine noise bad. GLB is spacious inside but from the outside is not as big as I imagined. Can also consider discovery sport but it's a bit higher budget.

I think Skoda Kodiaq is very value for $$. The size is quite decent too.

7 ppl SUV and want looks.
What about practical? Who are your passengers? Enough leg room back there?
Ease of going in and out? Storage area?

Don’t get one and driver happy but passengers complain

There's a Honda CR-V 7-seater variant also.

Odd that both Sorento (petrol) and Santa Fe are no longer available. I think both are decent options.

Usually the back 2 seats are occasional use only.

Can see why people, myself included, value SUV over MPV massively. The ride height and the drive so much better. Also if ever go north in future to campsite or more rural area the ground clearance is a must.

Even smallest one GLB has decent room in back 2 seats as long as you are under 170cm

yes, it's a balance of personal preference and need.

right now, my kids are still pretty young, so they can fit at the back easily. and my parents are pretty old and my dad has a bad back. so a higher SUV definitely helps when he gets in/out of the car.
