hmm.. I use snagit.. do screenshots at select region, whole screen, window screen. do pointers / cursor, blur out stuff, hightlight stuf and even record as video and to trim video. exteremly versitle applcation. best for documentations, illustrations or even presentations. btw just one button, key = printscreen or you can define the short keys.

I think we can leave the snipping tool installed also but can go to default app then screen snipping and select the screen snipping which is windows default to be the default app, then I am able to capture region screenshot without no greyish color.
