Mmm.. Yea this is really weird.

I'm pretty sure the pump is working on the X62.

At this stage I still think the most likely culprit is the CPU since that is the component that fails the stress test most often.

Try resetting to optimized defaults and run all your tests. Do you pass or do you get any errors?

If I were you I'd run Memtest86 to rule out any issues with the memory. Then you can narrow it down between board or CPU.

Also, remember that I've followed this guide to derive my overclocks and they have been nothing short of stable and speedy.

The 95w is a joke. How can a 8 core cpu take less power then a 6 core cpu(8700k) rated at 150w with higher clockspeeds? Logic much? On the same 14nm no less.

Can't take the TDP as the indication now. I believe I read it somewhere that the 8 core chips are nowhere near the 95W to begin with. And if you look at all the reviews, these supposed overclocking chips don't have much legroom for overclocking to begin with, unless those competitive overclocking where they used some unusual cooling and components.

I mean you still can overclock but I think at max you'll get 100-300Mhz at max before hitting the thermal wall. It's not like before where you could get anywhere from 500-700Mhz easily. Not to mention the thickness of the wafer and IHS makes it harder to dissipate the heat even with the slightest voltage increase.

Elmaria do you leave the processor C states on Auto?

I'm wondering if I should Enable them since I am running on stock whilst waiting for Intel to reply.

If you are on stock, let it AUTO.
I am overclocked so everything is disabled.

I still get random WHEA errors. :s

Think I will send my board for RMA as well.

Something is wrong and it’s either processor or mobo at this stage.

Just a quick update.

I went to read up alot more on overclocking/voltages and discovered that tons of boards have overly aggressive Auto settings.

Slowly tweaked my vCore, VCCIO, VCCSA, vDRAM settings.

Now stable @ stock with 1.225vCore, 1.07 VCCIO, 1.17 VCCSA, 1.27 vDRAM @ 3200 MHz. Turbo Boost working.

Temps are down to low 60s on gaming.

I guess over-voltaging is to blame here.

Even my old gigabyte p35 mobo fried one of my ram stick cuz it supplied more power then usual. It was barely 6 months. From that day onwards, no more auto setting when oc

Yea. I think it's just that certain benchmarks and loads are unrealistic. Plus boards these days are too aggressive with voltages.

Most CPUs/RAMs can remain stable with much lower voltages than listed.

You should at least just follow a Youtube video doing an OC on your exact CPU. That way, at least the OC will be stable.

Asus also made an OC guide for the 9900K. Derbauer did one too.

But for me, like what both Asus and Derbauer said, the Asus AI OC is quite good and stable with the latest BIOS updates. So no issues here for me to have to choose between a credible Youtuber's settings.

For voltage when overclocked, it should be around 1.3V typically. Not so low. But if you say it is stable, good enough then. :o

Gigabyte also has a guide out for the 9900k overclocking guide. I followed that for my 9700k except for voltage that was tested by me at different steps and I found 1.325V to be the sweet spot for 5Ghz on all 8 cores. Gaming does not exceed 63 degrees and AVX loads peak at 83 degrees.

I did not touch any VCCIO/VSA for my overclocks and my memory is set to XMP. Load Line calibration is set to Turbo.

Other than that all default settings.

I either lost the silicon lottery or Gigabyte has weird algorithms that determine Auto Voltages but manually setting the VCore, VCCIO, VCCSA and VDRAM to 0.08 lower gave stable stock speeds with much lower temps.
