I dun shop much. Transport cost is ok not cheap but affordable. Food wise it varies but given that sg is so ex now I think Spain u can splurge and get quality food at a portion of price here

flight and accommodation is ex. Barcelona especially. U would be looking at 200-350 per nite and if for kids maybe even more

valencia is however cheaper, less iconic than Barcelona but I like it. South Spain is also great although I never went before. That wouldn’t dismiss Barcelona - it is my third time there and I still haven’t finished the locations - there are just so much there

I will finish posting the Valencia pictures first then move on to Barcelona later.

whether family friendly might depend on the age of the kids but I think if they are old enough like above 8 they should be able to enjoy. If younger I think Asia better
I think Spain is very value for money. My last visit to Spain I visited Madrid, Valencia and then Barcelona. I think I prefer Madrid. :o
Agree that the visiting European cities is memorable as compared to Japan. I visit Europe almost every year except during Covid. This year I went twice to make up for it….:s22:

Nowadays I prefer to visit the smaller cities in Europe. Less crowd and I feel less chance of getting pickpocket. For Spain, I have been to Toledo, Cordoba, Seville, Granada, Ronda, Segovia and a few others. Much more relaxing and many have famous cultural sites as well.

Can share any further tips to avoid being pickpocketed if you still have? Just curious for your previous unfortunate incident, was it someone suddenly stole and ran away from you or it was an incident that you weren't aware until later
I’m in a Macdonald and took off my jacket putting over my camera bag. someone spoke to me which I find it strange, then I check my stuff and it’s gone

the thing is there are 1001 possible scenarios and u may not be able to watch everything even if u try to be careful but to mitigate that, you can

1. buy insurance. Keep the location of nearby hosp and police station

2. bring less things. The lighter u go, the more u can watch your stuff. Avoid numerous bags etc

3. think of what is important and not impt. Keep what is impt close to you. Maintain a fix habit and touch them occasionally at least u know roughly when things are gone. Impt things always put back same place after use - do not leave them on table even short while. U think u will rem … but then surely sometimes forget

4. keep a distance from people. When someone approach me, my first instinct is to put my hand on my phone and my wallet

5. Heighten alert when someone start talking to you.

#32 early morning go jog in the park. got cyclists. got e scooters. got joggers. also got people (likely homeless) stay in tents (didnt take photo upclose so cannot share here, also a matter that requires a lot of discretion and some respect of privacy).

valencia old town had a park that completely surrounds the town. it is huge and mine is in the north near turia.

#33 using trees to break the light. and ponds of water that i try to allow the reflection to fall on them. then wait for my subject to come. got many takes but i am not going to bore everyone and try not to show repetitive images (sorry for my beach shot as i love so many of them).

#34 taken from the connecting bridge (as you can see above, the park is below the level of the roads, so to cross from one road to the other, u can walk on the bridge and take photo from above).

i think every place is how you make out of it. nowadays i am more clear of what i like and what i dun like. and i am slowly moving away from over touristy and over crowded places. but still hard cos some touristy places have its own merits.
