I think Spain is very value for money. My last visit to Spain I visited Madrid, Valencia and then Barcelona. I think I prefer Madrid.
Agree that the visiting European cities is memorable as compared to Japan. I visit Europe almost every year except during Covid. This year I went twice to make up for it….

I have been to Barcelona and not Madrid.
Whats it that made you prefer Madrid?

So maybe I can check out other spanish cities next

Beware of pickpockets., esp on the metro. Now they become more and more daring

Those our group met were very professional and they worked as a group.
Some of their tactics can be really intimidating.
Like getting really close to you and cornering you, and there were few of them.. Imagine you being cornered by few tall guys, can even stab you not just pickpocket you!

I’m in a Macdonald and took off my jacket putting over my camera bag. someone spoke to me which I find it strange, then I check my stuff and it’s gone

the thing is there are 1001 possible scenarios and u may not be able to watch everything even if u try to be careful but to mitigate that, you can

1. buy insurance. Keep the location of nearby hosp and police station

2. bring less things. The lighter u go, the more u can watch your stuff. Avoid numerous bags etc

3. think of what is important and not impt. Keep what is impt close to you. Maintain a fix habit and touch them occasionally at least u know roughly when things are gone. Impt things always put back same place after use - do not leave them on table even short while. U think u will rem … but then surely sometimes forget

4. keep a distance from people. When someone approach me, my first instinct is to put my hand on my phone and my wallet

5. Heighten alert when someone start talking to you.

Encountered such tactics before too when in Europe, people come talk to us for nothing, say want to introduce their pretty city to tourist, point here point there trying to distract our sight... then I saw another guy starting to crawl his hand onto my bag...

Oh my god... they really think people are stupid to fall for that..!?
And too bad, I think there really are a lot of people getting picked by such tactics...

Another fren's group, 1st day arrived in Europe already got picked...

#32 early morning go jog in the park. got cyclists. got e scooters. got joggers. also got people (likely homeless) stay in tents (didnt take photo upclose so cannot share here, also a matter that requires a lot of discretion and some respect of privacy).

valencia old town had a park that completely surrounds the town. it is huge and mine is in the north near turia.

#45 protest against singapore's peter lim for mismanaging the team. will be great to take documentary shots but i kiasi so took a few photos and videos then quickly fade back into the crowd and evacuated into safe areas further from the protest site, even though the entire thing is very civilised unlike the protest in madrid. really are like two different people.

Ya. Got young people go Europe join tours from sg? I mean unless a place is difficult to get to, I dun.

some locations I pay for local tours on day trips. But cities I can go around myself

#48 lost at one of the buildings (plaza de manises) and yes the lens flare is a signature of the lens that needs to be use sparingly. in my opinion, sandmarc lens tends to give better graduated and thinner flare (on videos i saw) but supposedly of a lesser build than moment; while beastgrip lens is much more expensive. but i dun have them to actually compare. i am in the midst of considering if i am to buy a new moment vs beastgrip anamorphic.

#49 delighted to see unexpected bubble show for the kids at plaza de reina. i came on different days but only saw it once so it is really pure luck that makes or breaks a place.

for a tourist maybe different focus. if you ask me, i feel that barcelona is more iconic. but then maybe i fail to look into madrid and base on my limited exposure do not have anything that i can rem out of my previous trip at madrid as i only stay 2-3 days there.
