Actually I just wonder why they charge 2% more whereas the other shop does not. However the quality of their customer service is indeed superb which is something I have to agree...

It's written very specifically at all the price lists ma... it's not that they suddenly charge u without warning. It's just that people just don't bother to read the fine prints (or in the case of VP, the very BIG prints). "2% extra for payment by NETS" or "2% discount for payment by CASH". Isn't it the same thing? =.=

Hmm... e.g. Cybermind's pricelist... can't find a 2% cash discount anywhere... all they say is "no extra charges" for NETS or credit card...

If item A pay by nets costs $100.
2% discount = $2
cash = $98

if item A pay by cash costs $98
2% surcharge = $1.96
total = $99.96

They have to charge 2% extra to cover their own cost for the credit/debit/nets card merchants.
If not .. if their daily sales is $10k .. they need to pay around $100 to the merchants for the service.
And mostly shops prefer cash sales cause card merchants need at least 1 day before the money is transfer to them

the NETS surcharge thing is rather selective, once the owner gave a waiver to one of his customers who did not spend a lot, probably a regular or what.

not an issue though, they are still my 1st choice because of the pricing and friendly services, even though their frequent out of stock occurrences can sometimes be quite frustrating.

CM pricelist never states 2% cash discount because you have to ASK for that discount when making payments. If you are noob, pay cash and never ask for discount, they just charge you @ NETS/CC prices.

i believe the fault lies with NETS for charging merchants higher surcharge per transaction. So merchants have no choice. But what i like about PCT is that they state the cash price in their pricelist and inform you of the 2% before you make payment if you decide to pay by NETS. I believe there are shops that add that 2% into all their prices so you dont have a choice. Which means you'll be paying the 2% regardless of cash or NETS payment.

PCThemes (transparency + good service = customer win) :D

Well, 2% additional is kinda too much as i understand from my wife, that NETS now charge merchants a mere 0.5% transaction fee, across the board, no matter which industry you are in. Hence, i dont see why they should charge the additional for the transaction fee.

Just a FYI...

Could you check with your wife what the old charges were? Years ago before all the hikes.

Also, is the 0.5% fee applicable across the board, or only for certain merchants who exceed a minimum transaction quota?

checked... it is 0.5% for minimum transaction, and will be lower if your transaction amount is even more... was told that they now have different tiers... but i am not quite sure what kinda tiers that she refer to.

As for the old charges... what i was being told is that there various fee, depending on the time when the shop apply for the NETS, but it is ranging from 0.9% to 1.2%... Hence i dont see why they should charge a 2% for NETS transaction. I think it would be more reasonable for them to charge 1%, as i do understand that some shops profit margin is not as high as those big shopping centers.
