Thanks for the info.

Whether my AVR can decode HD Audio or not is actually irrelevant but since the questions have been raised, my Onkyo TX-NR1010 and Denon AVR-3311 have been used to play Bluray Discs with both these HD Audio with no problems using Wireworld Starlight 6 HDMI v1.4 cable, so let's stop trying to "trouble-shoot" my setup.

Since this is a Playon HD3 thread, let's refocus on the Playon HD3.

So can this new player passthrough embedded Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA in MKV files? I really am interested to know because I would like to upgrade my player!

For you to access this feature you have to browse "Internet Media" from the main menu, select "RSS feeds", select ""VST" wait for it loads may take 1 to 2 minutes or so depending on your network. Upon loading it will provide many options, just select "Dian bo" (in chinese) and it will show all the streaming apps where you can watch movies and TV shows.

i purchased the HD3 today and there are 2 issue i encounter

1) when i tried to click VST under the RSS, it indicated that service is unavailable. how can i solve this?

2) after the initial success to connect to wifi, HD3 lost the wifi connection and i am unable to connect to my home wifi again.

Hi sorry for any inconvenience, I'd suggest that you do a factory reset on your player. You can find this under the player Setup then System. Note that after a factory reset, you must restart again your player to enable the Wi-Fi. Hope you can try connecting again to your network.

1) i transferred a few movie (MKV format) to the internal harddisk for the HD3 but i am unable to have them listed under the "Movie icon". i am only able to retrieve and play the movie file from file manager->Harddisk. Is this normal?

2) Jukebox usage. when i click , it shows unable to file html file.? do i need to connect the HD3 to my PC inorder for the jukebox to work? am i able to use the HD3 Jukebox function as a standalone without on'ing my PC?

- You must enable the "Scan HDD" options under system setup. After this, you must reboot the player and the it will scan for the media files you have in the HDD.

- For YamJ or Jukebox, this is only possible to be created on Windows machines as the software available is only meant for Windows OS. Here is the link on how to use YamJ.

HD3 DOES NOT SUPPORT DIVX - TAKE NOTE!

Hi All,

If you are like me who expects the newest product to be better than the old (i.e. existing + newer features) without looking at the fineprint, please do take note that:

HD3 does not support DIVX (compared to the earlier HD, HD2 & HD 3D etc) and that if you have media files ripped using the DIVX codec, the player will not play these files. The only solution is for you to "re-rip" or convert with another codec (i.e. H264).

For each hour of media file that you need to "reconvert", you are probably looking at 70% or more of the time needed to re-convert these files.

So, if you are buying the HD3 and you have many earlier files ripped using DIVX, be prepared to spend considerable time "reconverting these files".... weigh yr options.

To be fair to AC Ryan, this was in the HD3 specs (i.e. DIVX was omitted from the list of codecs)

Just got my PlayON!HD3 from Challenger. I had updated my firmware to v10.1.4.r10128

I got some questions that the answers are not very clear to me. Please if you can, help me out. Thanks.

1. Changing of password
I tried to change the default password via Setup > Misc > Password.
After entering the default password of '0000' I entered twice my new password say '8888'. Immediately, the player asked me to enter the default password again without any prompt. Obviously my password change was not successful. Why?

2. Enabling/disabling File/Folder locking
I tried enabling folder locking. I browsed to the folder that I wanted to lock, but there is no option for me to set "Lock". Why?

3. PPTV
I cannot find this app pre-installed. Why?

We noted that there is a password bug and changing passwords currently will not work. This will only be fix in the next upcoming firmware.

For folder lock, the only default password you can use is four 0's because of the above. You can see this by pressing "Edit" button while highlighting a folder.

Please try to check and reconnect the player to your network. If it still does not fix it, try updating or reinstall the firmware for your device. I hope you can try it.

Don't waste time buy AC Ryan box.

Brought a low end android box at the following IT Show and never have any issue at all and using well till today.

Hi just to update, as accessing VST stream directly is still not possible now we would like to let you know another stream link where you can watch movie and TV under internet media feeds. Please select 天天在线 (TianTianZaiXian) and then 云点播 (Yundianbo) it will almost be the same as VST.

I can't believe the WD TV has been out for years supporting Hulu, Netflix, Spotify etc but the PlayOn! supports none of this? Just some Chinese stuff that isn't usable unless you can read Chinese characters?
