May I know anyone here attending F7 or P2 classes with Kaplan's Joe Fang? Is his notes and lectures good? How is it compared to Saminathan's? Thank you in advance.

Hey guys, I had just ORDed and am looking to look for a job while completing my ACCA part time.

Do you guys have any recommendations on what companies to look out for which enables me to do so while gaining experience besides the big 4?

I have a diploma in accountancy and am exempted 3 ACCA modules and managed to clear 1 paper, currently waiting for result of my 2nd paper.

omg his F7 lecture is well, i dont feel like saying, but this lecturer cant seems to focus on his work. half of the time he is talking about some stories elsewhere. i know its good to be funny, intyeresting, but everyfew mintues having a story is, well, lack of focus. futhermore, his FS written was really a "surprise" i am not sure what happen in exam, but i do know that if u han up such FS to ur boss, u will be screwed

Thank you for your advice. Really have some reservation about him, heard he called himself "Consol King". I attended Sami's F7 last term, was disappointed that Sami left Kaplan because I like Sami's systematic, well planned lectures which are exam focused. I also like Kaplan's customer service and its learning portal. Now, one friend also told me that Joe Fang solves very few questions in class. Looks like I have to choose Sami over the Kaplan next term when I take up P2. Thank you guys for your feedback.

Hi there. I also teach P1 and P7.

Thank you Sir, for your reply. I have sat for P1 in June 2011 exam ( I hope I have passed!) and has gained conversion (re-registered student) for optional papers. I am left with P1,P2,P3 to get it done with. Thank you for your time. : )

guys what do you think of LSBF's online lectures? are they worth the money? do they make up for not having physical presense?
how about studying online for the course and then atending revision physically?

I have not tried online lectures. But attending classes will give you the extra push, pressure and a higher chance to pass. Why not you give a try to attend classes at LSBF Singapore or Kaplan? Which papers are you taking this Dec?

I heard that ACCA qualified accts will have a slower progression and lower pay compared to NUS/NTU and even SIM degree holders for big 4. Is that true?

if thats the case, SIM degree holders is better off than ACCA?

Anybody in the circle can advice?

ACCA is definitely better than SIM. SIM grads go in only level 2.

lol.. how to advise when there are so little SIM graduate in big4? it is very tough for SIM graduate to even get in not to mention promotional opportunity. in contrast there are many ACCA graduate or students in big4 but they are mainly in the SME audit department.

so am i right to say that the local grads would be in MNC audit department while ACCA would mainly be allocated to SMEs ? are there any exceptions? if thats the case i would truly be disheartened.

It's very simplistic to say that. I know of a few ACCA graduates and they are all over the place - MNCs, civil service, banks, etc.

Yes, there are exceptions. (probably they are still studying acca hence, they are in SME audit)in fact, there are a number of them. Ask your big4 friends about it, I'm sure they are able to tell you that big4 do accept ACCA/SIM grads (probably not pwc). However, *it does not happen to all/majority of ACCA grads though. It really depends on individual and how they do up their resume, experience, networking and luck.

Because ACCA provides you a min. qualification/stepping stone to apply for the job. Whether you can get the job, it depends on yourself.

so i would like to ask if one wants to become accountant, but cant get into local uni cos of bad results, is it advisable for him to go for ACCA, UNISIM or just SIM- GE after ORD?

if study acca can work part time after army, but tough to find accounting/auditing jobs without prior knowledge or experience.

how much does it cost to complete the 14 papers for ACCA? provided only going for lessons in SAA for some papers only.

thanks for the advises and opinions!:)
