Ehhh anyone went any ACCA open house before? Don't want to waste my trip down

What they usually talk about:s11: Seem like SAA-GE is having one this Sat.

I just went to the FTMS one just now, no classrooms there. Reeally quite waste of time. Just enquire with the counter staff. There seems to be less than 5 people at the Open Day including myself. :/

Saw on acca facebook that ftms, saage and lsbf are all doing open days these 2 weeks.

F7 & P1/P2

Hi, can anyone please advise on the below. THANKS! :)

  1. I have attended class for F7 in Jul'12 but will only be taking exam in Dec'14. May I know whether there is any change in the FRS/syllabus for the past 2years?

  2. Can I take P papers if I have not cleared all the F papers?

  3. Which is a better combination; F7+P1 or F7+P2?

I went for Kaplan open day at night last week, nothing much, just brief introduction to ACCA and talk about career prospect, jiak buffet refreshment :s13:

Perhaps you might want to attend SAA open house this Sat and see what they offer differently :s12::s22:

Can all ACCA students,

irregardless of Kaplan or SAA....

All come in here to share your experience and progress?

Also, we can help to answer queries from others who are interested.

i am in need of serious advise here,

i have diploma from NYP, not related to accounting.

and i am planning to be an auditor in the future.

so my question is, should i take up ACCA straight? or get my basics through studying CAT first?

CAT will take 2 years to complete if i am to take up two subjects per sem?

any advise from people without prior accounting studies but took up ACCA straight and not having problems?

just to add, i will be studying night classes and working in the day time.

please advise. thanks!

Yo buddy, u ain't need to be taking the long and extra route by studying CAT, cos with just ur diploma u can straight away take acca, and since u are a non-accounting diploma, I think u can get exempt from the 1st paper, which is F1. I am also a non-accounting poly student like u, and I am currently studying the first few exam by my self, cos the first few ain't that tough, after which u can attend night/weekend class if u advance to the more harder paper. And I'm sure most ppl will starting to have problems after clearing lvl 1, cos it'll naturally will get hard. Gd luck, bro...

Hi there! Don't worry too much about it. I had zero accounting knowledge and started ACCA straight after A's. Still trying to cope with work and all but I cleared F1 to F8 with little problem. With hard work of course. :)

Good luck!

Hello hyyhyy, I can share with u my experience although not sure helpful of not.... :o

I'm from local poly with Engineering background, move on to NTU got a EEE degree then took part-time ACCA with ZERO knowledge of accounting. Working in the day, lesson in the night with those ACCA providers.

I normally take 2 modules per sem but not fix with any provider. Example, if I take F1 and F2 for that sem, I can sign up for provider A for F1 and provider B for F2 depending on the lecturer (although u sign up with the same provider for more modules can get more discount).

I never sign up for any revision class for all my subject except F8 (cos rumour says it is a very very tough module). Still manage to pass all my modules on 1st attempt. My recent exam and last paper was P5 on last Thursday, so assuming (pray hard) that I am lucky enough to pass again, I can grad! :s13:

Some concept maybe abit confusing (double entry etc) when you first learn them in F2 but other than that, the rest are skill and knowledge you can build on along the way. So, I think you can consider going straight to ACCA and skip the CAT phase.

Hope that helps. :s12::s12::s12:

Edited: Double Entry is in F3 not F2. :o
