Hello hyyhyy, I can share with u my experience although not sure helpful of not.... :o

I'm from local poly with Engineering background, move on to NTU got a EEE degree then took part-time ACCA with ZERO knowledge of accounting. Working in the day, lesson in the night with those ACCA providers.

I normally take 2 modules per sem but not fix with any provider. Example, if I take F1 and F2 for that sem, I can sign up for provider A for F1 and provider B for F2 depending on the lecturer (although u sign up with the same provider for more modules can get more discount).

I never sign up for any revision class for all my subject except F8 (cos rumour says it is a very very tough module). Still manage to pass all my modules on 1st attempt. My recent exam and last paper was P5 on last Thursday, so assuming (pray hard) that I am lucky enough to pass again, I can grad! :s13:

Some concept maybe abit confusing (double entry etc) when you first learn them in F2 but other than that, the rest are skill and knowledge you can build on along the way. So, I think you can consider going straight to ACCA and skip the CAT phase.

Hope that helps. :s12::s12::s12:

yo long time no see u in this thread. so last paper liao??

Edited: Double Entry is in F3 not F2. :o

Thank you for your advice! really helped me.

I will probably go straight for ACCA as per advised by forumers and lecturers.

Is there any 'special notes' for passing papers? Or the one from lecturer is good enough?

As i have seen quite a number of people selling their notes.

Those notes are from the providers. Once you sign up with a provider be it Kaplan, LSBF or SAA, you will be given one set of notes. People sell them here cos they have passed the module and no longer need them.

If you intend to sign up with any provider then don't bother buying those notes as some are outdated (few sems back, worse few yrs ago) or there is a change in syllabus or FRS.

People buy those notes cos they are cheaper than signing up with provider ($30 VS $500++). The trade off is of cos, not current and no lecturer to explain and ask if in doubt.

Often there will be a few particular popular lecturer for each module so you might want to consider signing up with them. That is also why I skip among the providers. :s12:

Ya, practice very important. Usually I will do the past 4 yrs of questions apart from those went through in night classes. Must practice alot, do and do, finish liao go through again and again... then got time, do repeat questions again.... Do until u see the question, u already know the questions..... :s13:

But really must do alot cos the questions in exam often will stun you one... be prepare for something you never see before. Is very common.... :(

Hello tortoise79, I'm new here and created this acct so that i could reply to you. Im very intrigued by your personal story; no accounting background yet passing everything on your first attempt. Congratulations, job well done!

I'm currently pursuing my professional modules, i hv these 5 papers left and I'm skipping the P2 exam today because im so ill-prepared for it :(

I'm thinking of taking 2 papers for dec exam, another 2 for june 2015 and 1 last paper for dec 2015. in your opinion, what is the best paper combination i should take? could you also recommend your lecturers for P1 onwards please?

I wish you well for your results in august! :)

wondering...

Hi everyone, perhaps this question has been asked alot but i'm still quite unsure:

Does anyone know if we can take P1 and P7 together? I've applied for P2 exam but will not be sitting for it today. Do i have to attempt all 3 papers (P1-P3) before i can take the optional papers?

Thanks in advance! :)

U need to attempt P1-P3 to take options.. So your next sem only can take max 3 papers.
