Tommy is pretty practical in guiding students to pass P6. Yup he got his special style in giving P6 answers that is linked to question requirement despite the fact he done answers in point form becos P6 topic is pretty wide and not easy to cover all in complete answer in revision class.

But when you attend his revision, trust me, all the handout questions and answers given out, if possible, go through all most/all questions and understand why P6 answers are like that. Yup, Tommy really typed out his own answers for P6 questions.

If you can attempt or partially memorize his answers and do thorough revision, you can easily pass this paper.

Yvonne and Tommy are actually good but i guess I am more suitable to Tommy how the way he conduct the lesson.

omg thank u for telling me your experience. I think i'm gonna go ahead and take tommy's revision class and hopefully clear this paper soon!

Right now attending Tommy, Kaplan classes find it not bad, his explanation is quite clear, usually he will use diagrams to help us to understand the concepts better. Though find this paper seems not easy...cos alot of things to understand & remember.

In fact under the very old syllabus of ACCA whereby has to take 3 papers & passed at the same time, it as this Tax paper(even after 2nd attempt still failed) that caused me to have to retake the other 2 papers which I had passed.

This Paper 6, Advanced Taxation is going to be a great challenge to me.

Hi,

I need your advises.

My friend took ACCA and now taking P1 and OBU degree. Her background is: she came from degree of science in a local school, working as corporate secretary / trust role and currently salary is no longer starting base.

How can she change job into finance role and leverage on ACCA without pay cut?

Please kindly share..
Heng suay.

From employer point of view, there are many freshies n not so fresh feshies. Hard to compete. In the job mkt, employee can ask for any kind of pay and it need not be a fair sum. But, employers are also choosing too.

Unless she so heng n got good rapport with interviewer, may be no pay cut. But, have to lower expectations, else sure very hard to get a satisfactory pay package.

Just like employing a maid. If one maid ask for more, employer also look else where. Of course, luck is a very big factor here. Just my opinion. Keep all options open.

Please note that I have never ever bad mouthed my fellow lecturers, and am shocked that my professionalism has been called into question in this way.
I will not respond to the other comments made by Angelone, suffice to say that Angelone has not studied with me.
Tom Clendon FTMS

Hi,

Not replying to the earlier criticism.

But, i saw some portions of your presentation on youtube. Your presentation is very clear. Good job and very understandable too.

I don't know if LSBF and SAA are posting fake reviews in this thread but I think it's quite obvious some of the FTMS reviews were "reviews", if you know what I mean. The advertising sales pitch was too obvious in the posts. It can be hard to tell which posts are real reviews nowadays, so take them with a grain of salt.

I don't think the free lessons are a bad idea actually. How many times have many of us signed up for supposedly good lecturers only to realise their lecturing style didn't really suit us? The "try before you buy" is a good idea, IMO.

Easy. Jus google the lecturer's name and see if he/ she is on youtube. Youtube preview is a very good litmus test aside from free lessons.

How do you know lsbf or saa is posting fake review? Honestly, no one can tell. I also think its unfair to put any schools name here unless there is obvious evidence that a certain school is doing ad here.

Anyway, lets all keep to the main topic on acca. Thats the purpose of the thread anyway. So long as we ignore the advertisers, they will wont b a bother n gradually die down.

F1-F3

Hi everyone,

I'm a poly graduate with accounting background- took managerial accounting and basic accounting whilst in poly. I'm planning on studying F1-F3 on my own (don't know which paper i would be exempted from yet- have emailed them a while ago).
In the worst case scenario where I'll get no exemptions, is it even possible to study all 3 within 2 months+ before the exams in June 2015?
Asking this as I have national service to serve at the end of this year while I hope to clear the first few ones as soon as I can. Since I've heard they're relatively easy.
Thank you!

ACCA Vs Accounting Degree

Hi Derrick,

Since you are a poly graduate, you might wish to consider other options such as a bachelor degree in accounting vs ACCA.

Typical ACCA takes at least 2 - 3 years even for polytechnic diploma holders whilst you can earned a direct honors accounting degree in 1 year part time since polytechnic is recognized by many UK universities as 3 years of full time teritary education thus allowing you exemptions of up to 2 years.

Some choices to consider

University of Derby and University of Bradford UK. Both are Top 50 Universities in UK which offers direct honors degree in Acccounting and Finance. The University of Derby UK fees is $12.8k whilst Bradford is about $24k.

Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Accounting and Finance (Top Up) | Aventis School of Management

Academic Programmes

With a degree , even if you switch jobs / careeers, it will still be recognized as a bachelor degree whilst ACCA is recognized in Accounting and Finance field, it is a Professional Certification. Give it a thought

I am not sure if you receive the latest P6 revision kit? Yup keep looking for answers reflected in revision kit because Tommy is pretty systematic in his flow of answering the P6 paper. It does help actually.

Tommy was tax practitioner that why he is able to explain tax very clearly.

Thank you!

Unisim is a good option. Heavily subsidised and backed by govt if singapore and you will qualify to do ca singapore later on.

And, it has big intakes so it gives give networking opportunities too.

It can be siong, so just weigh what you want.
