Hi would like to ask for advise / opinion , did my degree with Bradford accounting and finance. Been working in non related fields / non technical - basic accounting if required and most probably won't be working as accountant down the road.
Thinking to if should get acca - isca or cfa (heard cpa is very difficult to pass).
Objective is to have a wider knowledge and maybe the title ; though won't be using it.

CPA and ACCA both require experience to get the title. ACCA at least 3 years. CA Singapore according to the old route if I still remember correct is 3years post graduation experience or 5 years experience ( require testimonial from your company on your job scope and position) + 5 Days course. Now SQP entry for CA Singapore, but I guess also require experience and testimonial from employer to certify. CFA is more for analyst, investment, Big companies managerial position.

My opinion is work on the certificate on what you are doing.

My honest advice is to go for ICAEW ACA for many reasons.
SQP is modelled after ACA and hence you can be sure you will almost get 100% reciprocal and be awarded CA Singapore and ACA. The latter will immediately get you international recognition while CA SG is gaining traction.

The 2 toughest papers of SQP also has reciprocal from ACA equivalent and results have shown a higher ACA passing %.

You don't have much choice there for F1-F4 to be honest.

hype about SQP/CA Singapore

looks like there seems to be a lot of misconceptions about CA Singapore here.
Let's put it this way

Pros:
- Govt backed qualification
- Good to those aspiring to work for public-listed/public org/ATOs
- Prestigious as part of CA Worldwide
- With the SAC-NP Advanced Diploma in Accountancy pathway, diploma holders can also pursue this title

Cons:
- Still in early stage of gaining recognition worldwide
- Tough to get a place with ATO
- Low passing rate
- Favours local uni and poly bachelors and diplomas
- non-accredited degrees have to go through foundation programme

Summary:
is it the be all and end all for the Singapore accountancy professional landscape?
Definitely NO

Do you know?
- SQP is modelled after ICAEW's ACA?
- The difference between CA and CPA?
- If you are aspiring to be a management accountant, you should seriously look at AICPA (CIMA)
- ACCA and CAANZ have reciprocal arrangement (and CAANZ is also part of CA Worldwide....so think about it!)
- ICAEW ACA and SQP will very likely have 100% reciprocal so it makes sense to seriously look at this option

SAAGE is a private education institute here.
ACCA is an accounting body based in UK.
Both do different things.

For accounting degree, best to go for either,
a SQP foundation programme accredited degree,
http://www.singaporeqp.com/candidates/foundation-programme/who-qualifies
or a SQP professional programme accredited accountancy degree,

Looking for ACCA P4 tutor

Hi,

I am not sure if this is the correct platform to post this thread (if not, Mod please remove this post). I am currently posting this thread on behalf of somebody else.

Looking for an ACCA P4- Advanced Financial Management private tutor for the upcoming December 2016 exam (at central location). The person ideally should be an ACCA P4 prize winner, degree or master in financial management. The person must also be well versed in the financial management as follows:

a) Application of Black Scholes Model
b) Merger and Acquisition
c) Advance investment appraisal and the techniques
d) Treasury and advanced risk management techniques

If you are interested, please PM me with the following information:

1) Rates/hr
2) Educational background
3) Availability
