Go through your textbook and memorise the important sections of the ITA. Namely, Sections 10, 14, 15, 18, 19, 19A, 24 and 35.

Moreover, do as many questions as possible to familiarise with the style of questions, it allows you to apply the knowledge that you have memorize=)

hello all,

newbie here.

wanna ask if the aug/sept intensive PT class for FOUNDATION level modules has a minimum no. of modules we need to join?

cos im short of F6 taxation only.. thinking of joining the aug/sept intensive just for F6 taxation module.. this is also for those who missed the july intake to join in and take the exams at the same time as july intake, which is dec.

hope to get a reply soon thanks!

oh ya.. should i get yvonne goh or tommy lee as my lecturer? i've no preference though =)

yes u can join the aug intensive course for dec exam. my experience with yvonne goh 2yrs ago was not bad. u can consider her.

1 thing to take note is to make sure u can handle the additional paper on top of ur existing papers

are u already an acca student member? if not, it might be too late to apply for it now. go down to kaplan or saa to check if they still helps student to register for student membership else u probably have to head down ICPAS to ask if still able to register in time for dec exam.

otherwise even if u signed for lesson and they cant process the membership in time for u, u cant take exam

You can do that way. But the things is that taxation is a paper whereby the have updates every time and there might be new tax rules for the june exam next yr.

i'm contemplating whether to sign up for Revision classes.. it can cost quite a lot if i take a few... some classes of different papers even clashes with each other.

i've not been to one yet.

may i know what most lecturers will do in revision class from your past experience?

i guess practising past yr exam qns is the norm. if that is the case then i think i have to study first and be familiar before attending the classes since most of the time is spent doing questions?

if i choose not to attend, then practise qns done in class and past yr papers, i wonder will it be enough?

Actually, u need to fork out extra money to attend revision but I think attending revisions has it advantages and I have regretted for not attending revision for some subjects:
The advantages:
1. It is more effective/efficient to go thru questions in revisions. U will revise more questions than u do it on your own.
2. Assuming, the revision is effective. It helps you gain extra marks on the subject. Maybe during interview, it will look better on your resume.
3. For difficult subjects, attending revision may means whether u will fail or pass. If you fail, u need to spend more money on tuition and exam fees, revision in this sense actually helps you to save money.
4. Lastly, some lecturer will teach exams technique in revisions class. Which is important in exams.

To illustrate, I actually got 50++ for some of the subjects.... I think if I attend revision, it may be possible for me to attain maybe 60++. Thereby increasing the chance of me gaining employment. Therefore I think attending revision is quite worth it.

But then again, if the revision class is just looking at the lecturer working out the example without you actually get the chance to practice. You may get the false impression that you have actually understood the subject until you actually get a chance to do the question yourself without having any assistance.

Thank you for your advice.

So it depends how the lecturer conducts his/her revision classes. From your reply, I think a good revision class will comprise of exams techniques and letting you do question instead of just "showing" you the workings only.

I guess I can only select one or two revision classes with my tight budget.

Do you have any good experience in your revision classes with certain lecturers so far? If so, do share with me, if you think it is inconvenient can PM me. :) Thanks again.

Taking ACCA and RMIT BcAcc degree at the same time

Hi guys, may any experience people advice me. Generally i have no problem handling the load. i'm finishing my ns soon in feb 2010. Should i be taking both of them as part-time? Or one of them Full, while the other as a Part. If so, which should be the priority? Secondly, i read the requirements on SIM webby and found out that undergrads must be age 21 or above and must have 2 years of working exp or currently working full-time job. Do not really understand. Could i troub some1 to briefly explain it. For certain reason, i was kicked out of NTU accountancy. hence i really wish to hasten up things. Thanks in adv for your valuable advice.
