hi! i am thinking of doing ACCA or a private uni degree. I am currently an accounts assistant doing AP in MNC earning 2.7k... currently have 2 yrs experience.
Would like to know if i want to continue working in MNC in accounting, which one will help in my career? I surveyed the jobs searching website yesterday and mostly looking for dip/deg and never state ACCA. I'm not planning to take the CA or CPA after that..
if degree is all you want, just take a normal degree course will do.

acca failure rates quite high for certain papers unless u want to challenge yourself

Hi! thanks for replying! but from what i know the degree is not very recognised in singapore right?

ACCA membership is recognised, the degree doesnt make much of a difference. I must say the new acca syllablus is getting more demanding. Need to be determined to finish it :)

Hi, I see the job search those require Diploma in accounting. Can ACCA diploma equivalent to that or they mean polytechnic diploma? If I did not complete ACCA , will ACCA diploma still vaild ?

As for the ACCA annual subscription fee for first timer if I register now, do I have to pay again in 1 jan next year when it's not 1 year yet? What is the difference to register before or after 9 May?

so far i am considering murdoch bachelor in accounting or ACCA. Thinking which one easier to find jobs and cheaper and can get higher salary...
how much did you spend for your ACCA?

also can i know if i dont really need to use the ACCA status in job other than putting that i completed it in my resume, do i still have to pay every yr the membership fee?

thing about acca is u can pay as you take up the papers, no need pay one lumpsum.

do you have local diploma in accounting? might have some paper exemptions for acca, thus your cost might go down. total cost should be plus minus 10k inclusive of course and exam fees. can cut down further if u are the type that can self study.

the acca membership fee can be subsidised by your company if they have this benefit. if I'm not wrong, acca title can only be used if you have achieved the necessary job experience(PER)

whether it's easy to find jobs anot also depends on the experience u currently have. now job market also quite bad. so many competition for so few jobs.

Australia research based degree with less exams probably more suitable for you since you have difficulty with uol modules.

can try googling up whether can get exemptions. if can't find can give a call to kaplan to check.

if you want to self study, best is if you have the discipline to do it. if not probably u might give up halfway as well. seen lots of my friend took acca and gave up cos kept failing.

to me if you are good are writing out clearly in english such that the markers understand what you are writing then acca shldnt be a problem. acca high failure rates cos alot of foreigners taking it especially from China

Yes, most of them have problems with theory papers, especially those who got exemptions from their degrees which are based on coursework and assignments only.

Question, ACCA requires3 GCSES and 2 A Levels.
If I went to poly for non-business related course, will I have to take the FIA?

Hello all,

I just to check...
This year is my first year that I started ACCA.
I have paid for the Initial Registration fee and exemption fee in Jan and paid for F6 exam fee last month...
But I have yet to receive any invoice or email to pay for the subscription fee.
Is this normal or do I have to contact ACCA regards to this fee?
Thanks
