Can someone explain the last sentence to me, I don't quite get it.

Also, is the Oxford Brookes degree in Applied Accounting recongized? My only concern is that it may not help me if I want to switch from accounting firms to other industries.

Previously, there was a MRA which allows students who registered BEFORE 31 July 2013 to attain CA (SG) if they managed to clear all the exams, PAC and working experience within the transitional arrangement.

But if you register as a student AFTER 31 July 2013, you do not fall under the MRA.

You will have to wait for the NEW Proposed Reciprocal Membership Agreement (RMA) between ACCA, ISCA and SAC to be executed with an indicative timeline of December 2016, which will also provide a pathway to attain CA (SG).
But it is quite uncertain as they have yet to announce details regarding the new RMA.

For the OBU degree, I am unsure whether is it recognised or not. But i do know that some universities accept this degree for their masters programme, which may be useful if you intend to take up masters in the future.

4 years is indeed a very long time as I will be learning the same stuff over again :s13:, which is why i am quite hesistant to take up degree now.

You also doing ACCA in NS?!? It is manageable? Are you going to take up degree afterwards?

Haha yes, I'll have two more option papers after I ORD in Feb next year. I'm also in an 8-5 unit :s12: so I can use the time to study when I get home. It'a manageable definitely cause I'm taking one paper every 3 months. Taking P1 in September :s22: What about you? You must have taken more than one paper per sitting to clear all 14(?) papers within 2 years. Which is really impressive! Did you fail any paper?

I doubt I am, although I'm really hoping that ACCA plus 2 years of mid tier experience is sufficient enough to enter the big 4 as an auditor. Valuable experience outweighs a degree in my opinion. I'm also hoping to work in Australia in the future so this might a faster route.

Have you applied for any jobs yet? I think if you have an offer from at least a mid-tier firm (BDO, RSM etc) then you should go for it. Don't sacrifice the SMU degree for some experience in SMEs though.

Just curious, why you didn't choose to take the exams with CPA Australia since you plan to work in Australia in future?

Do you have time to study inside camp? BTW you are prizewinner right? Thats very Impressive!:s12: Last time i was too busy with NS stuff and i didn't have time to study in camp :(.
I cleared 10 papers during NS (6 papers last year, 4 papers in 2015). I just ORDed in Jan this year, so i took the remaining P papers (1 paper in March and 3 papers in June). Luckily i didn't fail any paper :s13:

Yeah experience is definitely valuable especially in accounting line, where you get to promote every year! And ACCA is well recognised in australia too if you decide to work there.

I haven't apply for any job yet. I will start to apply once i get my result in July.

I still have 1F and 3P papers to complete and I will be studying NUS Biz Accountancy this year. I managed to work at one of the Big 4 and obtain a priority offer for internship.

I still feel that degree is essential to my learning and experience and I took ACCA as an additional learning. Though I agree the 4 years could be used to gain working experience, my parents and I still think that a solid degree will be important in getting yourself an further studies (MBA) and easier job application in the future.

Tbh at this point Im not sure how I am differentiated from the many ACCA students who are also trying to look for jobs. Aint a prize winner or anything :/

Any advice ??

Have you considered the OBU honours degree with acca? You can still proceed with MBA or Masters with completion of acca exams and/or that degree, which is a faster route. However, if your parents are willing to pay for your tuition fees, why not? NUS ranking has dropped by the way.

WHO CAN BE MY PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE SUPERVISOR IF MY LINE MANAGER IS NOT QUALIFIED?
If your line manager isn’t qualified they can still sign-off the relevant time you are claiming in your role. You can then nominate a second, qualified, practical experience supervisor to work with your line manager to sign-off your performance objectives. If you work for a small organisation and are the most senior finance person, or your organisation does not employ a professionally qualified accountant who can sign-off performance objectives, then you may need to find someone external to your organisation such as an external auditor or consultant to work with your line manager.

can a person forge his line manager's signature to sign off his own practical experience ?
