hey, u can check Carousell listings for old textbooks. Unless there is major syllabus change, old textbooks aren't usually an issue. U can check the current syllabus on ACCA website, and compare it to the version u have.

Also consider free resources from Opentution and Acowtancy, they are not bad at all! U have to give both a try and see which suits ur learning style better. Personally favour Acowtancy.

there's a lot of resources from ACCA as well. check ur emails, they often send emails on free seminars, study workshops, accessing mock exams, past year papers, and technical articles.

i self studied F1-F5. Currently self studying F9.

Will it make a lot of difference if I rely on outdated study materials (valid till Sep 2018 edition) from Kaplan / BPP to prepare for Dec 2018 exam?

I dont attend revision. I practiced past year papers which is sufficient imo

I attended revision classes as well and I think it really helps a lot cause the lecturer will keep reminding you on the important area

If not wrong there are more than 12 papers in ICAEW. Furthermore if I studied singapore variant for F6 and F4, now I need to study tax and law for ICAEW since ICAEW is UK.

I tried finding classes in sg for ICAEW but seemed like there isn't much available online..

As ACCA has yet to reach a RMA with ISCA yet, I am considering the ICAEW --> Singapore CA route. Surprisingly, there isnt alot of options for ICAEW training providers in Singapore. Anyone knows why? The only option is SAA Global which offers the foundation class for ICAEW only. Where can I continue my professional ICAEW upon completion of their foundation (is called CFAB if I'm not wrong)?

Icaew is less popular among the students and thus very little training providers. ACCA has been the more popular choice with mant established tuition providers and well known/long standing tutors. However, Icaew will increasingly gain popularity the next few years. The quality of tutors may not be as good i suppose.

So acca students have to finish icaew to convert to ca sg within the stipulated rma timeframe.

I cant confirm 100% but it is based on my personal conversation with one of the isca panelist who is one of the board members conducting/planning rma and sqp curriculum

On the other hand, i believe the MoU do means something. As our conversation is momentarily brief, please do not quote me on it.

ACCA is still renowned and recognised by many employers. I feel that it is a flexible and well known qualification that is still valued despite the discontinuation of rma. It is a good stepping stone to start gaining your accounting experience which will be more valuable than all these professional qualifications.

You are right. This was the deciding factor before I decided to settle with ACCA between SQP & ACCA. It's a good thing ACCA allows you to clock your PER at any company (Additional discount to the 3 years PER if you work in their ATO).

Just thinking: if Singapore aims to be a leading accountancy hub by 2020, I suppose its intention is to attract top accountants and eventually top accounting firms into Singapore. Hence, why would Singapore go against the flow by limiting the number of CA Singapore via the ACCA route (knowing that ACCA is probably the most common accounting cert worldwide)? Does SG really think that she is so attractive to accountants worldwide such that they will still come to SG despite the "not so direct route" in getting CA Singapore via ACCA?

Any thoughts?

Hi all, does anyone have advise on F3 cbe? Took it last week but failed badly. Went for another slot this afternoon and was scoring the same. I'm revising with BPP textbook and was able to do most of the questions in their revision kit. Been also mugging almost 8 hours everyday and doing online questions, still no luck.

Try lsbf revision kit? Practice more questions. Can easily buy at carousell. Its important to have a strong basic knowledge of financial accounging to pass F7 and P2

Hi everyone, I was thinking if it's possible to study for ACCA with online resources such as acowtancy and opentuition?

I am a 24 yo with an A levels cert, didn't continue my studies and worked part time for around 4 years.. Due to family issues, I quit my job and have been unemployed for around 1 year. Recently, I am searching for a full-time job and I am hoping to take up ACCA to secure a better job in the future(??).

So I was wondering if it's possible to study for theory at home? Just want to save as much money as possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

First 3 papers possible to self study them after working hours. Other foundation papers can self study as well but recommend you go to class for law and tax paper.
